Description

Santa Teresita is seeking a Cook for our Assisted Living department.

Shift - hours vary from 7am-3pm

Purpose of Your Job Position:

Under the general supervision of the Dietary Supervisor the Cook prepares meals according to the posted menus and directives by the Supervisor, and performs general functions for the upkeep and maintenance of the kitchen.

 

 
Position Requirements

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Minimum of High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Active (Serve Safe) State sanitary certification and minimum two hours of job related continuing education per year
  • At least three years experience in quantity food production as a cook or a vocational certification in culinary arts
  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the English language at a high school level
  • Basic knowledge of therapeutic and modified diets.
  • Knowledge of proper food preparation, holding and storage according to FIFO (first in first out) method, DHS and HACCP standards

Skills and Job Requirements

  • Interpret recipes/instruction and adjust recipes for volume
  • Must be able to able to work in a team environment
  • Must be able to receive and implement constructive feedback from others
  • Ability to work independently without need for constant supervision.
  • Must possess the ability to prudently make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
  • Availability to work weekends and holidays.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, vendors and the general public
  • Must possess the ability to plan, organize and prioritize as necessary for carrying out job functions to the highest quality standards of the industry
