POSITION SUMMARY
The Data Analyst (DA) position is a valued member if the Information Services team and is responsible for producing and maintaining a variety of reports for TCRHCCC analytical needs. The incumbent will build reports in both Power BI and other platform tools (e.g., Reporting Services) that the department uses for reporting. Performs quality assurance role for reports he or she develops and for any reports done by people under his or her supervision. Participates in the ongoing work with the Data Warehouse. He or she needs to understand the data models in the relational database system and understand how to pull that data into Power BI. Assists with scope and task plan development; provides input to resource requirement development. Fosters innovation and learning through sharing design ideas and mentoring team members. Remains current on latest trends, industries tools & standards and is abreast of organizational and industry changes. Manages and prioritizes multiple analytical and reporting requirements, including the requirements of external regulatory agencies and quality, to support TCRHCC mission. Provides education to TCRHCC departments regarding available tools, trends, metrics as well as methodologies used to derive analytics. Responsible for interpreting reporting requirements against established specifications to determine whether information meets criteria. Incorporates as necessary, additional/alternate data sources to obtain required information. Validates reporting data and reconciles inconsistencies with departments and data sources.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Utilizes analytical skills to visualize, articulate, and solve both complex and uncomplicated problems regarding different variety of data types. Examines data sets and applies analytical skills to identify patterns, correlations, trends, etc. to further promote effective new and improved business-related functions such as work productivity, customer service, clinical quality and safety.
- For the purpose of providing information; the incumbent will customize reports and or extract certain data for individual users (e.g. assessment information, patient census, demographics, etc.).
- Perform initial and periodic review of reporting needs assessment. Electronic reports are generated from: organizational software systems, such as the electronic health record (EHR), third party applications, etc.
- Collaborates with business, clinical teams to understand data report requirements and timelines, and documents them in a clear manner
- Presents analysis and findings in the form of summary reports, dashboards and/or presentations to the business and clinical teams to enable them drive business development efforts and project deliverables
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to manage data logistics - including data transfers, understanding data structures, business rules, etc. - to enable timely execution
- Ability to contribute and continuously work simultaneously on multiple projects concurrently without any impact on timelines and quality of output
- Provide efficient administration and management of the wide range of data as supplied to and used by TCRHCC.
- To accurately input data which will enable any relevant staff to:
- Review the information for trends and inconsistencies and to highlight key headlines
- Undertake detailed analysis of data, looking for patterns, groups etc. and to produce detailed analysis of performance data in relation to TCRHCC (individual and collective), departments.
- Sensitively handles all information and data confidentially. Understands key differences between responsibilities of Data Owners, Authors and trustees
- Assists colleagues in determining and specifying their management information requirements, interpret requirements and resolve problems by specifying solutions.
- Works collaboratively with Informaticists, Application Specialists, and other stakeholders to amend and create templates, mark sheets and reports in the EHR to simplify the collection and analysis of data
- Develops data measurements, aggregation protocols and workflows; cleans and validates data; maintains clinical quality database; analyzes, interprets, and reports upon data from various sources (inpatient, outpatient, ambulatory, claims/finance).
- Identifies, defines and maps data sources for approved initiatives and assists in defining workflows needed to collect such data.
- Ability to assist with development and maintain a comprehensive program for data management and governance.
- Must assist in teaching and cross training functions for TCRHCC to complete all hospital and joint commission reports.
- Assists in developing procedures, guidelines, policies and procedure related to data governance.
- Works with various clinical areas to coordinate and improve data collection, and to provide data and analytics support to front-line quality and improvement initiatives.
- Analyzes clinical data, identifies trends, patterns, and profiles, and reports findings. May identify and make recommendations for clinical and operational process improvements. Works directly with Departments (Clinical Informatics, Revenue Cycle, Laboratory, Pharmacy, etc.) to build and validate data and underlying clinical data assets and analytics infrastructure.
- On an on-going basis, keeps abreast of quality reporting standards and quarterly changes in requirements for quality measure data abstraction. Participates in conference calls and/or list serves, and reads literature on abstraction rules/guidelines, to ensure understanding of applicable information.
- As assigned, participates in performance improvement program/activities to ensure accurate and timely reporting of data.
- Work after hours including weekends when it is necessary especially during E.H.R. implementations, testing, upgrades, especially during E.H.R. Downtime events related to issues or planned outages for testing and validation to make sure the reporting systems and infrastructure are back to normal operations etc.
- Incumbent is required to work beyond normal business hours, after hours and weekends to support special events or classes and extreme situations where equipment needs to be repaired to ensure readiness for patient care, classes and events. Incumbent is expected to rotate and cover the on-call shift of which may require the employee to stay on campus during the scheduled shift.
- Participates in department workflow and or testing teams as related to electronic health record or other project initiatives.
- Ensure proper PPE is worn at all times while on duty including but not limited to, face mask, gloves, gown, isolation gown, NIOSH-approved N95 filtering facepiece respirator or higher, if available), and eye or face shield.
- Complete all donning and doffing tasks in a safe acceptable method and discard of used PPE accordingly. (see CDC website for most current updated)
- Complete task training for all routine cleaning and decontamination processes for all surfaces contaminated by a communicable disease to ensure a high level of patient, visitor, employee and external customer satisfaction
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical:
Incumbent must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time during sedentary office work looking at a computer screen. Incumbent will occasionally need to stand, walk, bend, and possibly drive. Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to and including 10 pounds. The Incumbent has the ability to utilize prolonged periods of near and color vision and must be able to hear normal speech. Must also be able to see fine details frequently. The incumbent will occasionally need to be able to see distance and have depth perception. Must have the ability to use a telephone and hear overhead pages over a loudspeaker. Must be able to utilize both hands with simple/firm grasping and use of keyboards. Environmental conditions are typically in a controlled environment with occasional exposure to dust, fumes, gases; and, infectious diseases. Must be able to accept flexible schedule to meet unit needs.
Mental:
Must be able to prioritize and use good judgment; must have critical thinking skills to problem solve and plan, identify and question issues and information in order to make appropriate assumptions, inferences, implications, and decisions; and must be able to communicate with staff, providers, senior leaders, and external entities. Incumbent will be expected to concentrate, handle a high degree of flexibility and work alone for prolong periods of time. Must frequently be able to cope with high level of stress, make decisions under high pressure, and, handle multiple priorities in stressful situations. Incumbent will occasional be required to demonstrate a high degree of patience.
