Position Nurse Educator/Employee Health Nurse  
Description

In keeping with the hospital’s mission and vision statements, the Nurse Educator/Employee Health Nurse is a registered professional nurse who prescribes, coordinates, and evaluates patient care through collaborative efforts with team members in accordance with the nursing process and the standards of care and practices. This person also organizes the educational program for the hospital and outpatient programs and individually tailors educational programs for all staff. This person is responsible for tracking, trending and reporting staff training/education hours and for oversight of CLIA testing. The Nurse Educator/Employee Health Nurse also coordinates clinical rotations for nursing students in addition to coordinating the employee health program, serves as a patient advocate and as the Infection Control Nurse.

 
Position Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduate from an accredited program of professional nursing required; Bachelor's Degree Preferred.

Experience: Previous experience in a psychiatric health-care facility preferred. 3-5 combined years of Infection Control and Employee Health experience strongly preferred. Minimum of three (3) years of successful teaching/management experience.

Licensure: Currently licensed to practice by the State Board of Nursing. CIC certification is strongly preferred.

Additional Requirements: CPR certification required. Successful completion of crisis prevention intervention training provided during new employee orientation, including appropriate use of Seclusion and Restraint, during orientation, and prior to assisting in a restraining process. Above average organizational skills, written and verbal communication skills and computer skills. Knowledge of both acute and chronic diseases. Experience with data management and statistics. Knowledge of behavioral health and applicable regulations/standards.

  • Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of a wide range of psychosocial, cognitive and/or developmental disorders.
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Knowledge of adult learning strategies and techniques.
  • Knowledge of core competencies and their application to various disciplines.
  • Ability to collect, organize and analyze data.
  • Group presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of Joint Commission Standards, CMS Standards, and State DHSS regulations.
