Description

The Risk Manager/Patient Advocate is responsible for directing and monitoring the facility-wide quality management assessment and quality performance improvement programs, ensuring the facility’s programs are in compliance with all regulatory agencies including, but not limited to, The Joint Commission, CMS and State and Federal agencies. Additionally, the position is responsible for assessing various levels of risk exposure and proactively ensuring the least possible impact to the facility.

 
Position Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Masters Degree from an accredited college or university in nursing, social work or related behavioral health field preferred. Bachelor’s degree required.

Experience: Two (2) years experience in quality management/improving organizational performance (IOP) within an acute psychiatric treatment setting preferred plus five (5) years experience in a psychiatric/mental health field, with a minimum of three (3) years in advance clinical/management practice, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional Requirements: A strong knowledge of JCAHO, NAPHS, CMS, OSHA, Patient Rights standards, and any other applicable federal and state laws and regulations governing mental health care facilities preferred.

 

SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of Joint Commission, CMS, OSHA and patient rights standards, and all applicable federal and state laws/regulations.
  • Knowledge of quality management principles, practices and techniques.
  • Knowledge of external review organization (i.e. managed care, Medicare, Medicaid)
  • Knowledge of patients’ right, advanced directives, adult/child abuse laws, and emergency detention.
  • Thorough knowledge of risk management methodology, techniques and tools.
  • Strong leadership and negotiation skills
  • Effective communication in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Windows applications.

Excellent organizational, detail oriented, analytical, training and presentation skills required.
