Share Email Opening Title Technical Writer (2022-007)  Astronics Subsidiary Astronics AES   Location Kirkland, WA   Description JOB SUMMARY Our Technical Writers transform complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and accurate content for the intended audience in the required format. Our primary function is to write Component Maintenance Manuals (CMMs), Service Bulletins (SBs), Service Information Letters (SILs), user manuals, and other customer-facing documents to support new and sustaining products. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Write and edit technical content in Simplified Technical English (STE) for hardware and software products. Research and translate technical information into content for nontechnical and technical users. Conduct interviews with various subject matter experts (SMEs) to gather content for deliverables. Produce deliverables that conform to internal department requirements and customer/ compliance requirements. Review work of others for completion and adherence to requirements. Actively participate in staff meetings and in internal department initiatives. Perform other duties as assigned. This position may require knowledge of SOX / 404 internal audit controls and related documentation.   Position Requirements MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communications, Human-Centered Design Engineering, English, or similar. 2+ years of experience as a technical writer Experience writing content that complies with ATA100, iSpec2200, or S1000D specifications for an Aerospace company, a plus Competencies: Ability to pick up on technical things quickly, learn new skills and knowledge; good at learning new industry, company, product, or technical knowledge. Ability to persevere in projects – can maintain the energy and drive needed to complete multiple projects with different priorities on schedule Ability to effectively cope with change; can shift gears comfortably; can decide and act without having the total picture; isn’t upset when things are up in the air; doesn’t have to finish things before moving on; can comfortably handle risk and uncertainty. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Has excellent written and oral communication skills. Technical Skills: Microsoft Office suite software Desktop publishing software (Adobe FrameMaker) Graphics software (Adobe Creative Cloud), a plus ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS Must be a US Person (under ITAR rules) to be eligible.
