Specialist, Core Collection 

Description

The Specialist, Core Collection assists with the maintenance of the Biography Files, Production Files and Subject Files collections. You will be responsible for processing materials, updating database records, and performing public service.

 

This is a full-time position in the Core Collection Reference Files department of the Margaret Herrick Library and reports to the Manager, Biography Files.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the collection of Biography Files clippings and ephemera.
  • Create and update Biography and Production Files database records.
  • Sort and process small gifts and transferred materials.
  • Perform public service as needed.
  • Assist with departmental digitization projects.
  • Assist with processing press kits and Academy Award documents.
  • Mark and clip online and hard copy publications.
  • Complete other departmental tasks as assigned.
 
Position Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in an archive or library.
  • Ability to alphabetize, organize, and accurately file materials.
  • Ability to handle fragile materials and conduct extensive research.
  • Knowledge of film history and the film industry.
  • Experience entering detailed metadata.
  • A pleasant personality with the desire to interact effectively with colleagues and the public.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously while remaining organized and detail oriented.
  • Must be self-motivated with the ability to take direction and work independently.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office with the ability to work on a computer for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift and retrieve boxes up to 40 pounds from high shelving units.
