Civil Engineering Technician IV 

Description

Reports to Design and Project Engineer. Provides support as a liaison between each party involved in any process being conducted within the city or the public sector such as street paving, water, gas, stormwater, erosion control, driveways and sanitary sewer projects. Communicates with project engineer to obtain accurate information necessary for construction plan preparation. Review plans and process necessary work orders that pertain to a permit. Performs complex survey related calculations routinely. Responsible for drafting duties to include plotting information obtained from the site investigation in the form of plan, profile and cross sections. Organizes field testing of materials and coordinates survey activities. Occasionally performs construction inspection duties. Prepares cost estimates for the construction of projects including street, storm sewer and sanitary sewers. Provides direction to Civil Technician II, Civil Technician I and Co-op students

 
Position Requirements

Should have considerable knowledge of the basic principles and practices of surveying as applied to streets, sewers, site development and other civil engineering related work. Should have the ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with the public, project engineer and subordinates. Should have a general working knowledge of civil related construction projects. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Should have at least five (5) years experience as a Civil Technician II. A Georgia Registered Land Surveyor License is preferred. Must have a valid driver's license.

 
Physical/Environmental Requirements The environmental working conditions of this position will include very frequently working around high/low temperatures, dust or fumes, and working inside and outside. A person in this position will frequently work around hazardous machinery, wet surroundings and vibrations.
