Description

The Bore Operator will need to travel from job site locations, pothole and verify existing utilities along directional bore path and place conduit as needed according to construction plans/drawings for various utility providers

 
Position Requirements

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods, often under adverse climatic conditions.
  • Ability to lift up to 80 lbs. multiple times during a work shift
  • Ability to climb, dig, work in tight spaces, on uneven surfaces, walking, stooping, and kneeling
  • Ability to understand and follow specific oral and written instructions
  • Ability to work well independently and as a part of a team with co-workers
  • Ability to pass a motor vehicle, criminal background check, and comply with drug-free workplace policy
  • English usage is sufficient to keep records, place orders, and prepare simple narrative reports
  • Willingness and ability to learn additional skills
  • Competent in operating John Deere Pilot controls or Case 4 stick backhoes.
  • Competent in operating Ditch Witch and Vermeer horizontal direction drills.
  • Competent operating digitrack locating systems- F-2, F-5, and F-5 Flacon
  • Competent in operating Hydraulic Hoe pack, Upright compactor, Air compressors, etc.
  • Ability to read and understand construction roll plans and multiple job site construction drawings.
  • Ability to perform simple math and comprehend onsite staking Lot/Block, Cut/Fills
  • Ability to complete computer-based Operator Qualifications through EWN.
  • Ability to obtain DOT medical card.
  • Act as crew foreman when needed
  • Wage will vary pending experience and qualification

 

Career Progression-General Manager Bore

  • Minimum 3 years as Operator
  • Complete comprehensive training on Vista and budgeting
  • Demonstrate knowledge and proficiency in Office Suite
  • Demonstrate effective and competent communication skills in both written and verbal
  • Complete Track LMT
  • 3-6 month shadowing of current GM for knowledge of Equipment operation and repair
  • Learn and utilize soft skills and be able to communicate with different departments and upper management

 

Supervisory Duties (if any)

  • Act as Foreman when Needed

 

Job Qualifications/Experience:

  • Communicate effectively
  • Have time management of priorities
  • Be able to manage a schedule
  • Have strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills
  • Be willing to travel out of town to work on projects of varying length
  • High school diploma or equivalent desired
  • Experience working with underground utilities desired
  • CDL A required
  • Tanker Endorsement
  • Valid DOT Medical Card
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus

 

Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications:

  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid State of Residence Driver’s License is required within two weeks of employment.
  • Candidates must pass criminal and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background checks and pass a pre-employment drug screen.
