Description

Geneva College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in the Tannehill Department of Business, Accounting & Sport Management. This position begins August 2022, and the review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. Minority and female applicants are strongly encouraged to apply.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Geneva College Tannehill Department of Business, Accounting & Sport Management invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position with a start date of August 2022. The selected individual would teach a full-time load (12 contact hours per semester) in Business Analytics, Operations Management, and other courses commensurate with the selected individual’s area of expertise. Advising and committee work, along with other duties as assigned, are required of the position.

We are seeking a student-centered, innovative leader and teacher that works well in a team. The department places a high value on student-faculty interaction and collegiality, and the selected candidate will be expected to be engaged beyond the classroom. This would include participating in recruiting and career placement events and providing academic advising for students from all areas of business.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Selected candidates will be expected to fulfill the following teaching responsibilities:

  1. Teach twelve contact hours per semester.

  2. Adequately prepare all course materials and lessons (Note: preparation time will vary based on instructor experience in teaching that course)

  3. Provide each student with clear course expectations, evaluations, and timelines through carefully written topical outlines and approved syllabus per faculty established guidelines

  4. Provide interesting and relevant assignments for students that demonstrate learning outcomes in a real-life setting

  5. Suitably challenge, engage, support, and communicate with students to encourage their participation and learning while maintaining mutual value and respect

  6. Complete grade books, final grade sheets, learning assessments and final exam assessments on a timely basis

  7. Respond to student questions on a timely basis

  8. Ensure course and program learning outcomes are delivered as defined by the syllabus

PERSONAL QUALITIES:

Christian Commitment: The successful candidate must be a thoughtful and articulate Christian and an active member of a Protestant evangelical church. Preference will be given to candidates who support and have an articulate understanding of the Reformed faith. The individual must understand and support the College’s “Foundational Concepts of Christian Education” by expressing an evangelical Christian profession of faith and demonstrate the ability to integrate a Christian perspective in their work.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

A Ph.D. or D.B.A in Accounting, Finance or in a business field related to Analytics or Operations Management is preferred. In lieu of a terminal degree, applicants with a Master’s degree in a related field with significant work experience in the field and/or successful experience teaching in a college business program will be considered. The aforementioned degrees must be from an accredited U.S. college/university or international equivalent.

Geneva College’s undergraduate business programs and the Master of Business Administration program are globally accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs. All applicants must be academically or professionally qualified under ACBSP standards, possess a record of successful teaching excellence, demonstrate an understanding of the practice of faith integration, and be committed to working as an integrated team member in the department.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Geneva College employs a typical educational structure whereby the college is organized by academic departments. The position is in the Tannehill Department of Business, Accounting & Sport Management and reports to the Department Chair. Teaching is primarily at the undergraduate level and in the classroom. We offer MBA courses both in the classroom and online, and the selected individual is expected to be willing and able to teach in the classroom and online modalities.
