Summary

Compiles and maintains control records and related engineering data by performing the following duties.

 

Essential duties and responsibilities

This job description does not imply that these are the only duties performed.   • PDM functions:
    • Expert level user of PDM system regarding document release and change management process as outlined in internally released PDM Document Guides.
    • Training of new users and assistance and troubleshooting for all users.
    • Data Admin function with in PDM system:
      • Perform document management and control functions
      • Perform data integrity checks on items in the data management system
      • Monitor the status of documents in the approval cycle to make sure items are moving through in line with metrics
      • Prepare PDF versions of documents
  • Document Control Functions:
    • Make released documents available on the intranet
    • Management of customer specifications and drawings (including upload/download using granted access to some customer secure websites)
    • Distribute document distribution lists summarizing changes to computerized or manual control records, releases documents, and notifies affected departments
  • Design Engineering support Functions:
    • Perform various tasks related to the Intuitive MRP system (creation of sundry items (S#’s) and -RMA PNs).
    • Work closely with all members of the design engineering team to support the efficient processing of documents.
  • Annual Asset Tracking
    • Maintain Asset tracking spreadsheet and repository (folder) of pictures and Asset Number Request and Accountability & Inspection forms associated with assets.
      • Requires communication with parties inside and outside of Astronics.

Education and Experience

  • Able to use Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel to create and modify documents
  • General computer skills
  • Ability to pay close attention to details
  • Ability to assist others with data management software tasks

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Does not have any supervisory responsibilities but does serve as a coach, trainer, and mentor for other positions within the organization with regards to Design Data Manager activities.

 

Work Authorization/Security Clearance

Due to federal contract obligations, must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident

Language Skills

Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence and memos.

 

Mathematical Skills

Possess the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measurement including whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Higher level of math skills helpful.

 

Reasoning Ability

Ability to understand technical products and concepts as they relate to the products and services that the organization produces.

 

Other Skills

Computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, Skype/Teams, Adobe Acrobat helpful)

Physical Demands *

While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and or arms to pull handles and push buttons and reach objects. Requirements may also include climbing, balancing, stooping, bending, reaching, kneeling, crouching or crawling. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
