Description

The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures furthers the understanding, celebration, and preservation of cinema through inclusive and accessible exhibitions, screenings, programs, and collections. Welcoming visitors from Los Angeles and around the world, the Museum works in active partnership with motion picture artists and specialists, scholars, staff, and diverse communities to contextualize and challenge dominant narratives around cinema, inspiring discourse, connection, joy, and discovery.

Reporting to the Manager of Human Resources, the Human Resources Coordinator will demonstrate outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills and provide excellent administrative and customer service support in a fast-paced environment. Strong problem solving and decision-making skills is required with an understanding of employee relations, staffing management, and payroll. You must feel comfortable managing conflicts, be effective in scheduling, and be able to help support a thorough recruitment process.

You Will:

  • Coordinate all pre-employment activities including offer letters, pre-employment drug screenings, new hire packets, background investigations, and new hire start dates and notifications.
  • Administer the approval process for new openings and handles job postings.
  • Prepare, maintain, and ensure accurate records including personnel files.
  • Conduct a variety of personnel file and I-9 audits.
  • Assist in complying with all federal and state employment laws.
  • Assist with all internal and external HR related inquiries and requests.
  • Assist with payroll and adhoc HR projects.
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest HR trends and best practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.
 
Position Requirements

You Have:

  • A bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in the Human Resources field.
  • Experience in HR administration and exposure to employee relations and payroll practices. ADP experience a plus.
  • Strong computer skills with high proficiency in MS Office.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Outstanding organization and time management skills with meticulous attention to detail.

  • Must have an inherent understanding of confidentiality and the ability to maintain it at all times.
