Position Summary:

This position ensures the enrollment and de-enrollment of employees in eligible benefits in accordance with policy and plan documents. In addition, this position ensures communication of eligibility to employees in a timely manner.

 

Essential Job Functions:

Provides Benefit Orientation to Employees

  • Provides a summary overview of the eligible benefit offerings to newly eligible employees.
  •  

Manages Employee Benefit Enrollments

  • Establishes employee eligibility, coverage and effective date as well as premium deductions for employees enrolled
  • Enters new member data and status changes with existing employee using online methods and other vendor enrollment requirements.

Manages Employee Benefit Terminations

  • Using on line methods in order to notify COBRA vendor of eligibility for COBRA in a timely manner.
  • Issues Dental COBRA notification letter to employee whose termination or status change makes them ineligible for group coverage.
  • Manages in- house Dental COBRA

Assists in Benefits Administration

  • Accounts for new hires, termination and assists with retro adjustments for premium notices and any retro adjustments for benefit calculations.
  • Ensures all employees are informed of their benefit eligibility according policy.

Maintains Employee Benefits Records.

  • Ensures all benefit information on the HRIS database is current and accurate.
  • Maintains backup employee benefit enrollment and termination information

Maintains Effective Department Communication.

  • Resolves employee concerns in a timely manner by thoroughly researching and investigating the issue(s) and reporting back the finding to the employee.

Continuous Professional Development

  • Remains current on related laws, regulations, and practices affecting ESUCP benefits subscribing to related literature, attending conferences, seminars, and/or enrolling in courses as budget allows.
 
Position Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Between three and five years Benefits Administration experience
  • Intermediate knowledge of benefit laws, regulations and vendor benefit enrollment processes and policies
  • Proficient in MS Work, Excel and database management
  • Advanced skills in customer relations
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, memos, and work place policies. Ability to, interpret general business periodicals, professional journals and procedures. Ability to write professional correspondence. Ability to write routine business reports. Ability to speak effectively with other employees. Ability to present formal information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to carry out detailed written and/or verbal instructions. Ability to solve problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Flexibility and coping with change. Multitasking. Performance under tight deadline. Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • A valid, unrestricted North Carolina/equivalent driver’s license, good driving record and possess current, unrestricted auto insurance.
