Easterseals UCP provides meaningful and exceptional services so that children, adults, and families living with disabilities and/or mental health challenges can live, learn, work, and play in their community. 

For 64 transformative summers, Camp Easterseals UCP has provided quality recreational and therapeutic camp programming in the beautiful countryside of New Castle, Virginia. There, children and adults with disabilities are able to experience all the outdoors has to offer including horseback riding, canoeing, swimming, arts and crafts, ziplining and campfires thanks to an amazing group of dedicated team members.

Camp Easterseals is seeking dynamic, adventure minded staff to provide food and laundry service this summer. If you are seeking not only a job opportunity, but also a purpose, we have the position for you.     


The Camp Administrative Assistant is responsible for assisting with office tasks during the day and the care and supervision of campers in the evening. This includes helping to maintain a positive, clean and safe environment for all.


  • Attend and actively participate in all staff orientation programming as well as ongoing staff and cabin meetings.
  • Assist with checking in and out campers and staff.
  • Drive staff members as needed to the airport, doctor, etc.
  • Answer phone calls.
  • Prepare and file paperwork utilizing excel, word, publisher and access.
  • Supervise and assist campers with daily activities as needed, including transferring, bathing, feeding, dressing, and other tasks.
  • Encourage participation in camp activities and assist as needed.
  • Supervise cabin during rest and night duty when scheduled.
  • Assist in daily and weekly cabin and camp clean-ups.
  • Show and encourage respect for personal property, camp equipment,
  • and facilities.
  • Fulfill assigned roles in enforcing safety regulations and emergency
  • Procedures.
  • Maintain a positive and enthusiastic attitude.

  • Must be at least 18 years of age; high school diploma or GED required. One or more years of college or equivalent preferred.
  • A valid U.S. driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of people while demonstrating respect and consideration for staff and campers.
  • The ability and willingness to work 12 consecutive days.
  • The physical ability to assist in transferring campers in and out of wheelchairs, push wheelchairs and to assist in other activities of daily living.
  • The ability to identify and respond to potential environmental risks related to daily camp activities.
