Responsibilities:

  • Perform engineering development by applying a moderate to high degree of creativity, engineering skill and judgment in applying engineering principals to electrical problems.
  • Develop detailed electronic equipment design solutions, including system architecture, product architecture, schematic and circuit card design which are consistent with applicable specifications and sound engineering practices.
  • Support all level of complexity products including supporting multiple programs involving multiple CCAs concurrently.
  • Develop detailed designs which accurately translate requirements into product features.
  • Design multilayer Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) that include the following functions:

o High-speed communication supporting up to10Gbps

o Digital Video transmission and conversion

o Digital Audio transmission and conversion

o Bluetooth integration and antenna design

o Microcontroller/Microprocessor circuits

o Power management

o Serial/Peripheral interfaces

o Built-In-Test (BIT)

  • Develop designs for EMI that have low radiated and conducted emissions.
  • Accomplish power budgeting, analysis, and characterization as it relates to current draw and thermal characteristics.
  • Evaluate design options for thermal and overall reliability.
  • Accomplish hardware/software bring-up/debug, and maintain issue tracking.
  • Product verification testing including final analysis and development of tests, reports, and programming scripts.
  • Support the transfer of design files into the manufacturing process by writing and managing Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
  • Coordinate with other functional groups (systems, software, mechanical, production) to steer designs for easy integration into other processes and the aircraft.
  • Proficient in the use and selection of test equipment - oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, meters, supplies, etc.
  • Provide direction to others directly and by documentation for CCA assembly, rework, and changes using Pick and Place machine, soldering irons, heat guns, hot plates, etc.
  • Develop and review the creation and evolution of the electrical engineering design process as a sub-set of the engineering Product Design Process (PDP).
  • Support environmental tests to acquire engineering data and regulatory compliance testing (primarily DO-160).
  • Become a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the manufacturing team on a given segment of electrical engineering designs.
  • Participate in design reviews of own and other’s designs. Provide technical design review support as a SME for all products.
