Job Summary:

Under the general direction of the Chief Operating Officer, the Human Resources Director is responsible for providing leadership in developing and executing the human resources strategy in support of the overall business plan and strategic direction of the organization.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Establish and implement HR initiatives that effectively communicate and support the mission, vision, values and overall business objectives of NBCC and its affiliates
  • Function as a business advisor to the executive/senior management of NBCC when human resource-related factors are involved
  • Provide guidance to leaders and the entire management team regarding established laws, policies, and practices
  • Provide advice, guidance and information regarding employee relation matters to leadership to support decision making. Investigate and take appropriate action to positively resolve workplace conflicts and problems
  • Oversee the compensation and benefits programs to ensure motivation, incentives and rewards for effective performance and attract the best available talent in the industry
  • Manage talent including recruitment, selection, leadership development, employee development and training, performance management and succession planning
  • Reinforce a service-oriented culture focused on employee engagement, quality, service excellence, and fiscal responsibility
  • Develop and implement HR related policies and procedures
  • Maintain comprehensive files, to include periodic audits

 

Supervisory Responsibilities (if applicable):

  • Interviewing, hiring, and training employees
  • Planning, assigning, and directing work
  • Appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees if appropriate
  • Addressing complaints and resolving problems

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Comprehensive technical knowledge of HR practices (recruiting, compensation, benefits administration, HRIS, employee relations, training, employment regulations, risk analysis)
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise high level of confidentiality and professionalism in all settings and with sensitive information
  • Proven consultative, coaching, and persuasive skills with every level of internal and external customer, including executive and senior management, and the ability to develop solutions that fit the needs of the organization
  • Ability to partner and work effectively with senior leaders to integrate HR best practices and diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives into NBCC culture
  • Solid strategic thinker with demonstrated ability to drive execution and results collaboratively
  • Strong business and financial acumen and demonstrated comfort in interpreting data
  • Strong knowledge base of health and welfare plans, including applicable laws
  • Excellent understanding of HR trends and appropriate employment regulations
  • Ability to analyze and think strategically organization-wide to react to changing business conditions; results-driven mindset and record of successful execution against goals
  • Experience in coaching and influencing businesses to define, develop, and drive organizational effectiveness and talent strategies that positively impact business goals
  • Utilize sound judgment, reliable rationale and common sense
  • Ability to effectively communicate ideas and data to senior management. Effective in a variety of presentation settings, from one-on-one and small groups to review committees and senior management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel; Experience with HR software, Ascentis preferred
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and deal effectively with all levels of employees and management
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
  • Organized and detail oriented
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Ability to work from home and effectively utilize tools to lead and communicate with the organization
