Roles & Responsibilities
The Unit controller is responsible for all Finance, Accounting for the operating unit (Extant) and reports to the President. Acts as the onsite fiduciary as an independent voice to TransDIgm.
The primary components of the role are:
Accounting
Ensure timely and accurate monthly close process with Extant and TransDigm.
Fulfill all Audit, SOX disclosure, and reconciliation requirements.
Apply Accounting Policies and Procedures according to USGAAP and TransDigm rules.
Ensure optimization of A/R and A/P functions, minimizing risk while ensuring continuous functioning of business.
Ensure overall health of inventory, including adequate obsolescence reserve.
Ensure proper cost accounting is in place.
Forecasting and Planning ('FP&A')
Consolidate and report 3 P's for Extant
Create, manage, and submit Budget & Forecasts.
Report and Explain variances to outlook/plan/prior year in a clear manner
Establish accuracy in results by anticipating surprises and holding others accountable to outlook
Ensure complete and accurate pricing in each BU -- that adheres to published list prices, LTAs, or quotes. Run SPV pricing model to measure true P&L impact of pricing actions
Evaluate the merits of Capital Expenditures (payback, EBITDA impact, cash flow analysis)
Acquisitions
Manage acquisition valuation model and perform analysis (in tandem with Business Development team)
Ensure accurate and correct purchase accounting, including Intangibles, Goodwill, PP&E, and Inventory
Ensure proper acquisition transition process in place for Finance
DCMA/DCAA Adherence
Define and Manage DCMA rate structure, understand CAS rules, and ensure systems and processes are adherent to government CAS
Final signature authority for cost and pricing data certification.
Oversee FAR quotation process.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance required, prefer an MBA, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
A total of 7 years of progressive Accounting and Finance experience, with exposure to odf Inventory/Cost Accounting required.
Demonstrated track record of developing people and building teams
Prior audit experience a plus.
Demonstrated ability to hold others accountable to established targets, policies, or procedures
Understands how ERP modules fit together and function, excellent at manipulating data in Tabular models and Excel
