Manager - Rental Assistance Programs  

Description

Wyandot BHN is seeking a dedicated Manager of Rental Assistance Programs. This position will assist in providing leadership and direction to Kim Wilson Housing, Inc. (KWH) and will function as a steward of the resources entrusted to the KWH organization by its Board, funders and benefactors. Ensure mission and core values of KWH are realized through successful and effective utilization of resources, financial, human, material and intellectual, as entrusted by the Board of Directors. The primary focus will be to manage multiple federal, state and local grants, supervise staff managing these grants or providing services to participants and provide leadership to local Continuum of Care committees.

 
Position Requirements

Accountabilities:

  • Ensure that clients seen are treated with dignity and respect, and experience effective yet minimally restrictive interventions. Meet or exceed the organization’s access standards for timely service.
  • Meet or exceed departmental goals.
  • Ensure that each client receives the highest level and quality of services available.
  • Ensure that all treatments and interventions are delivered consistent with their programmatic intent and outcomes. Comply with all relevant laws, regulations, standards and best practices in order to satisfy case supervision requirements.
  • Actively research and engage in the identification of internal and external resources and benefits, which may be advantageous to the clients being served. Ensure all clients are appropriately connected or linked to resources necessary for them to accomplish their expected treatment plans and outcomes.
  • Ensure regular and consistent communication/feedback with supervisors regarding the practical application of professional training, best practices, philosophies and standards consistent with those taught and directed by the organization.
  • Develop and maintain respectful, courteous and professional relationships with all clients and their families.
  • Work closely with all others involved in delivery of services to ensure that client needs are being met.
  • Maintain positive, effective working relationships with other staff members, volunteers, donors, vendors, and other internal resource relationships critical to the efficient and effective operation of the organization.
  • Develop and expand positive working relationships with current referral sources and related external partners, and continue to seek out additional community services and benefits which may be of value to clients served.
  • Uphold and ensure all activities and conduct are compliant with internal policies, as well as all relevant laws and regulations. Model the values and the mission of the organization at all times, and act as good stewards of the organization’s resources.
  • Proactively seek out and engage in professional development activities in order to remain current with best practices.
  • Demonstrate behaviors that contribute to team cohesion and result in a positive, effective work team environment.
  • Provide oversight/management of multiple federal, state and local rental assistance and emergency assistance housing grants.
  • This includes:
    • Financial oversight
    • Regulatory requirements
    • Provide leadership in Continuum of Care committees and other committees that works to end homelessness or prevent homelessness for adults, youth and children.
    • Supervision of staff processing rental or emergency assistance or providing homeless stabilization services
    • Communicate with landlords
    • Oversee the maintenance of tenant files
    • Maintain tenant guide
  • Research and explore funding opportunities, particularly HUD funding, and remain abreast of changes in funding streams.
  • Research and explore evidence/based practices (EBP), particularly HUD and SAMHSA EBPs, and remain abreast of changes in housing initiatives.
  • Regularly evaluate/develop operational plans for the agency’s service provision; implement tactics and establish goals, which will enable the services provided to run more effectively and efficiently.
  • Maintain positive, effective relationships with community stakeholders, government leaders, community organizations and agencies, which directly and indirectly affect the needs and resources available in the community. Participate in CoC and other community coalitions.
  • Act as a steward of the organization’s resources. Ensure all resources are utilized properly, legally & ethically, and all entrusted to manage or represent the affairs of KWH are properly directed and highly effective. Ensure the organization is financially sound and functions as a viable business concern at all times.
  • Develop, monitor, administer, and evaluate goals, objectives, outcomes, policies and procedures for KWH’s Housing Programs, ensuring compliance with KWH mission, HIPAA, landlord tenant laws and contract agreements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, public planning, business, development, or related field.
  • Master’s degree with a social service emphasis strongly preferred.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Decision-making and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to consistently be reliable on management of projects through consistent follow-through demonstrated.
  • Significant knowledge of federal, state and local housing grants, community resources, key contacts, government entities, and various constituencies.
