Job Summary
Responsible for engineering studies, circuit layouts, electrical power, communication systems and lighting design services, job scheduling, job completion, quality control, problem resolution, coordination, job communication, job tracking and Company client satisfaction activities. This position is responsible for managing specific assigned portions of projects from inception through completion and job turn over, in alignment with all Company policies, procedures, key objectives and regulations.
Essential Functions

- Provides the power, lighting and systems design services of each project as assigned to achieve safety, high quality and efficiency of work.
- Plans all projects to optimize efficiency of labor, materials, supplies, equipment, software and tools. Prepares construction project documents, material specifications, client information, project schedules, closeout documents and maintenance manuals in a timely and accurate manner.
- Specifies materials needed in a planned and coordinated manner. Partners with the project manager to provide the most competitive selections.
- Attends job start up meetings with project manager and other design staff to assign tasks, responsibilities and schedule project design. Establishes goals and standards of performance for the design team.
- Surveys job sites as needed for scope of work and quality to determine compliance with the prepared documents.
- Leads and facilitates the last planner system on assigned projects.
- Anticipates changes and events that may impact construction project schedules, budgets or materials/service quality. Effectively communicates these to the appropriate parties in a timely manner.
- May prepare proposals for new business development with the assistance of business unit leadership.
- May utilize engineering software to calculate and verify equipment A/C ratings and Arc Flash values. Compiles documents, including equipment evaluation and Arc Flash data into final reports.
- May prepare and monitor project scope and budget change orders to ensure they are accurately and appropriately communicated with the project manager in a timely manner.
- May utilize appropriate software to perform and review electrical power studies.
- May track project hours on all assigned projects to ensure work time aligns with established budgets. Effectively communicates these to the appropriate parties in a timely manner.
- Stays informed of new electrical codes, materials, technologies, techniques and practices.
- Builds effective relationships with customers, design team, specialty contractors, suppliers and user groups that reflect and support the Company’s core values and meet or exceed the customer’s expectations.
- Provides mentoring, coaching and training to co-workers as needed.
- Implements LEAN concepts and methodologies for continuous improvement of design processes and activities. Educates others on LEAN approaches.
- Maintains compliance with all federal, state and local laws and regulations.
- Accurately and confidentially maintains Company records and other sensitive business and customer data.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending education workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies relevant to the industry.
- Supports the mission, vision and values of the Company and works creatively to best support the Company’s long-term goals. Champions and models the Company culture at all times.

- Follows all guidelines, policies and procedures established by the Company.
Required Education, Experience and Skills
- Associate’s Degree or equivalent work experience in electrical engineering, electrical design or a related field.
- Minimum 3-5 years of electrical circuit layout and design experience in the electrical construction industry, with a concentration in large commercial construction projects.
- Extensive experience with industrial, health care and/or multi-housing construction.
- Knowledge of electrical and technical construction and general industry safety standards, procedures and regulations, including OSHA, NFPA 70E, NEC and IEEE. Background with Arc Flash Analysis and rough-in layout experience.
- Skills to read, interpret and understand electrical contracts, plans, drawings and specifications. Must have a solid knowledge of National Electrical Codes and Life Safety Codes.
- Experience and proficiency using AutoCAD, Blue Beam, Revit, Navisworks, ElumTools and/or AGI programs, as well as SKM power tools.
- Trained and proficient with design techniques, electrical specifications, documentation, scheduling and power, lighting and systems design work.
- Basic project management training, experience and skills. Understanding of the project life cycle.
- Work experience with LEAN methodologies and applications. Strong process orientation.

Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience in electrical engineering, electrical design or a related field.
- LEAN Certification.
