Description

JOB SUMMARY:

The Accounting Manager is responsible of the monthly bank reconciliation, month-end close process and a variety of accounting functions including direct supervision of the Accounts Payable Accountant, the general Accountant and the Grant Billing Accountant. They will be in charge of management and reconciliation of G/L accounts; journal entry reviews including month-end closing entries; assistance to annual audit preparation. The role will offer general accounting guidance to others on the accounting team and throughout the organization. Further responsibilities will include assisting the Controller & CFO with various reports and/or projects as needed.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Bank reconciliation

  • Review banking transactions daily
  • Ensure recording of all bank transactions in general ledger
  • Reconcile bank deposits to G/L ensuring the team is processing deposits on timely basis
  • Ensure timely follow up on any banking discrepancies
  • Review/post miscellaneous and organization advancement cash receipt entries
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliation

Support monthly/quarterly reports, Audit & 990 preparations

  • Coordinate monthly financial statements (Income Statement, Consolidated Income Statement) and various reports to support senior management (dept. Summary, etc)
  • Assure all areas of responsibility are audit-ready, these include
    • Receivable, accruals, payable and prepaid accounts
    • Bank reconciliation
    • Government grant billing
  • Net asset reconciliations & Release from restrictions

Supervision and Staff development

  • Establish performance standards and facilitate staff development learning opportunities
  • Support and maintain Account Payable, Billing Accounting & General Accounting cross-training and serve as all-around departmental back-up
  • Review and approve direct report submittals and account reconciliations; post direct reports journal entries

 

RELATIONSHIPS:

This position reports to the Controller. The incumbent will interact with all members of the accounting team as well as with members of the organizational advancement team and will educate and coach YWCA staff in the use of financial information to manage programs, departments and funding. Critical relationships will include the accounts payable accountant, the general accountant, the billing accountant, the Controller and the CFO.

 
Position Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, finance, math, business administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 4 to 6 years in accounting, reconciliations and supervisory experiences
  • Experience leading and developing teams
  • Strong PC skills to include Excel and Word
  • Thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
  • Proficient with cloud-based accounting systems
  • Detail oriented
  • Strong analytical, problem solving & time management skills
  • Sound organization skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse styles, cultures and perspectives

 

WORK CONDITIONS:

  • The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to work on a computer for extended periods of time

 

COMPENSATION: The pay range for this position is $62,400-$80,000 per annual (depending on qualifications)
