LaForce is looking for a Wood Department Contract Purchasing Specialist (Project Coordinator) to process and manage wood door orders accurately to suppliers within a required time frame at the best price from approved specifications, documents and approvals.

Major Responsibilities

  • Process wood door orders and manage through their entirety, and properly manage workload to meet schedules. This may require additional work time commitment to meet the needs of the business.
  • Be knowledgeable of all wood door manufacturers, products, pricing structures and lead times in order to communicate effectively with others regarding technical details. Provide analysis/budget pricing and negotiate additional discounts when needed or requested.
  • Effectively handle wood door claims, submittals, and timelines by working with suppliers, customers (occasionally), sales and scheduling staffs to determine best overall solution, minimizing the overall cost to LaForce.
  • Generate purchase and shop orders for the Wood Door Department for job approvals and change orders including pricing the PO's accurately. Work closely with wood door vendors regarding PO's, lead times, pricing and other issues that affect the ordering process.
  • Assist in ensuring shop drawings conform to plan and specs while meeting vendor warranty and labeling authority requirements. Write letters or assist in writing letters when required to GC's and suppliers regarding technical information or claims when required.


  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; and effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Must be willing to learn additional LaForce computer software.
