Job summary

Under the direction of the Director of Environmental Services, this position is responsible for temperature screening at gate entrance of the Manor and maintaining a log of names of personnel and visitors entering the premises.

Essential duties and responsibilities: Include the following: other duties may be assigned.

Monitor and document entrance and exit of the premises.

Perform clearance of personnel and visitors by taking temperature upon entrance to the premises.

Identify visitors and/or guests including personnel by maintaining a name log.

Receive, track, and sign off truck deliveries at the gate entrance.

Radio maintenance to pick up and deliver truck deliveries to its main destination.

Use equipment and materials in a safe and acceptable manner, follow established safety procedures, use appropriate safeguards, and observe common sense rules of safety in all on-the-job activities including the Injury and Illness Prevention Program.

Conduct self in a manner that reflects credit on Carmel Valley Manor and encourages others to do the same.

Qualifications (Education and/or Experience):

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. High school graduate or equivalent required; experience as a security officer preferred.

Hold and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Provide proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status by completing Federal Form I-9 in compliance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.

Possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.

Must be able to demonstrate leadership and communication skills (both verbal and written) and must be able to read, write give and follow oral and written instruction in the English language.

Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as be willing to handle residents, staff, based on whatever maturity level at which they are currently functioning.

Must possess the ability to deal tactfully and work harmoniously with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.

Must be able to show courtesy and tact and reasonable speed in performance of duties.

Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing practices.

Maintain an effective production system, which assures efficient and effective management of resources.

Working conditions

This job requires work to be outdoors and indoors with exposure to a variety of weather conditions.

This job requires work to be performed days and evenings.

Works weekends and holidays.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to do the following:

Sit, stand and walk for required periods of time.

Speak, hear and see.

Use close vision, distance vision, color vision, and peripheral vision and depth perception along with the ability focus vision.

The employee must be able to move intermittently throughout the premises and be able to assist in the evacuation of residents.

Reach with hands and arms and use hands and fingers to handle objects and tools, computers and/or controls.

The employee may be required to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion.

The employee must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position, and have the ability to relate and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at time hostile people within the facility.
