195 Event Center Manager

POSITION SUMMARY

Directs the overall Event Center operations. Oversees and manages all aspects of event bookings and operations. Assists in establishing direction and priorities for operation of Event Center Department to achieve revenue goals and customer satisfaction.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Has the ability to perform all functions of supervised positions.
  2. Supervises Event Center personnel, Determines the staffing requirements, schedules, work assignments and training needs. Responsible for interviewing, hiring, promoting, demoting, terminating and leave recommendations.
  3. Provides proper safety and security of company assets including personnel.
  4. Prepares and maintains department budget.
  5. Understands and enforces all applicable rules and regulations pertaining to the department.
  6. Develops and maintains a department policy and procedure manual for the department including internal controls
  7. Keeps personnel informed of marketing promotions and events, changes to policies and procedures and other necessary information
  8. Maintains weekly payroll, financial reports, employment activity records and other departmental reports.
  9. Assists with the investigation of over and short errors on small bar banks
  10. Maintains equipment (utensils, furniture, linens, service equipment and other supplies) as necessary for convention/banquet service including, but not limited to, general maintenance. Order necessary parts for repair service.
  11. Responds to and handle customer requests and complaints in a timely, professional manner.
  12. Attends food and trade shows to enhance facility’s image and stay abreast of competition and learn of any new developments, sales methods and techniques in the convention/banquet in house catering industry to maximize sales and profitability
  13. Monitors industry trends to maintain the competitive status and profitability of the convention/banquet in-house catering operation.
  14. Facilitates proper flow of communication between departments and within facility.
  15. Contribute to the general management of the company by attending management meetings
  16. Addresses all situations and problems or matters of significance in a timely manner so corrective action can be taken
  17. Assists department personnel with job duties and responsibilities as necessary.
  18. Books events.
  19. Maintains knowledge of all events in the property as a whole.
  20. Attends and/or facilitates all mandatory meetings and training.
  21. Maintains confidentiality at all times.
  22. Is sensitive to Native American Culture.
  23. Operates within the parameters of the Leech Lake Gaming Human Resource Policy, Departmental Policy Manual and all Tribal Internal Controls (TICs), and all other applicable regulations.
  24. Secures the assets of Leech Lake Gaming and the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe.
  25. Performs other duties as assigned.
 
Position Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Previous Banquets and supervisory experience.
  2. Excellent time management, organizational, public relations and communications skills.
  3. Ability to resolve conflicts efficiently and professionally.
  4. Ability to work flexible hours, rotating shifts, weekends and holidays.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Physically capable of remaining on feet, sitting, and walking for extended periods of time.
  2. Subject to internal working conditions including a smoking and alcohol service environment.
  3. Ability to lift up to forty pounds.


EDUCATION AND SKILLS

Education Required: Associates Degree

Experience: Two years of related experience.

A combination of education and experience may be substituted for education.

Computer Skills: Must have strong computer skills.

Certificates & Licenses: Must meet Tribal/State compact licensing requirements, pass a criminal background check, and submit to drug testing. TIPS Certification
