GENERAL PURPOSE Under the direction of the Turning Point Community Programs, this position works in collaboration with psychiatrist to assess physical/medical needs of mental health clients. DISTINGUISHING CHRACTERISTICS This is an at-will medical position within a program. This position is responsible for all aspects of medical and psychiatric services. Additionally, this position is responsible for the day-to-day supervision of assigned staff who perform the established duties of the program. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES – (ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY) The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that could be performed. Provides assessment and recommendations for therapeutic treatment. Prescribes medication. Performs injections/blood draws as needed. Orders, interprets and records results of clinical tests and reports results to physician. Teaches clients and their case manager’s necessary information regarding medication, side effects, drug interactions and other health issues. Monitors and reports adverse reactions to medications or treatment to physician. Makes referrals as needed. Provides training to other staff members regarding any medical related information as needed; keeps abreast of current medical information and pertinent professional developments by attending workshops, meetings, etc. Assists psychiatrists, and psychiatric residents with specific client care tasks as requested. Maintains valid RN and NP licenses Maintains valid DEA certification Provides medical support to other Turning Point facilities as needed. Participates in multi-disciplinary health conferences. Ensures compliance with state licensing standards. Interacts productively within the team in order to provide highest quality services to clients. Principles and goals of the “consumer/family driven model.” Psychosocial rehabilitation’s treatment and programming. Principles and goals of “family centered model.” Ability To: Work and communicate effectively with staff, families, community agencies, and professionals. Perform crisis intervention strategies. Communicate effectively orally and in writing. Understand budgeting requirements and budgetary implications for programming. Work effectively under stress and conflict. Exercise appropriate judgment and decision making. Be flexible and adaptable in any given situation. Work as a member of a team. Supervise staff, delegate responsibility, and provide leadership and training. Be well organized, flexible, and self-disciplined. Plan, organize, implement and evaluate programs Schedule: 8 hours per week, day to be determined Duration of position:  Approximately 6 months   Position Requirements MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES Education, Training and Experience: A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is through completion of a master’s degree in nursing; two (2) years of experience in community mental health providing direct patient treatment/care.
