Description

The IT Project Manager will be a member of the Stony Brook Medicine IT PMO Team and will report to the Director, IT Program Manager. This individual will work in a fast-paced environment as part of multi-disciplinary project teams implementing IT solutions focusing on Outpatient Physician and/or Outpatient Hospital Practice Expansions. These expansions include, but are not limited to, opening of new practice locations, moves of existing practices to new locations, breakdowns of practice locations.

The successful candidate will bring a balance of creative problem solving and hands-on IT Project Management skills.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Develops the project work plan, work breakdown structure, and schedule using a designated project management tool for project team usage. Project Plans include sufficient task level detail to capture known dependencies and major milestones.
  • Management of all projects assigned to oversee.
  • Utilize effective project and time management skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ensure all projects are consistent with overall customer objectives and strategic plans.
  • Manage the day-to-day activities of cross-functional project teams and ensures the adherence to the project plan.
  • Deploy best practices approach defined by IT PMO team.
  • Work to control change, adjust the budget, timeline, and project scope to accommodate approved changes.
  • Produces timely, detailed summaries and high level reports
  • Provide timely and accurate project status providing transparencies for issues, risks, current project state
  • Identifies and mitigates project risk, keeping issues visible, to avoid impacting the project's success.
  • Confirm the alignment of customer expectations and project goals.
  • Ensure proper quality assurance and user acceptance of solutions prior to implementation.
  • Review and finalize deliverables and monitor quality control.
  • Develops and maintains all strong working relationships with all key stakeholders including, IT and Practice Executives, Directors, Managers, and Resource Allocation Managers.
  • Collaborate with Resource Allocation Team to ensure resources with required skills are available to support the implementation of solutions implementations.
  • Management of all resources assigned to projects.
  • Motivate, guide and lead implementation project team to achieve organizational goals and satisfy customers.
  • Proactively identify project and staff related issues.
  • Participate in performance appraisals and contribute to project team performance appraisals.
  • Assist Practice Owner in the development and tracking of an overall Budget for each implementation.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Position Requirements

Qualifications:

  • 3 to 4 years of demonstrated experience managing or leading IT projects in an enterprise environment preferably in a Healthcare and/or Ambulatory Practice environment
  • Experience working with tools to create and manage project plans, such as MS project/Smartsheet
  • Experience with healthcare EHR/EMR, medical equipment ancillary systems, HL7 interface projects a plus
  • Implementation management
  • Knowledge of project management best practices such as PMBOK
  • Familiarity with SDLC, change management processes
  • Experience managing project budgets and project teams
  • Background in managing projects in a matrix environment
  • PMP preferred
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

 

In accordance with the New York State Department of Health (DOH) order that all hospitals and nursing homes “continuously require all covered personnel to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.”  Upon receipt of a conditional job offer, candidates who are not already vaccinated must obtain the first dose of the vaccine within three (3) calendar days of job offer and must obtain any subsequent doses in accordance with the vaccine protocol. Physical Demands:

May spend a great deal of their professional day walking, standing, moving and manipulating equipment, as well as lifting and moving objects, equipment and supplies. Ability to lift 20 pounds. Moving, lifting or transferring of patients or objects may involve lifting of up to 50 pounds, as well as assist with weights of more than one-hundred (100) pounds. Requires the ability to stand for extended periods of time, bend or twist their body, as well as visual acuity.
