Director of Technology

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Responsible for providing leadership and is responsible for the direction, coordination, integration, and implementation of technology across the organization. He/she will lead and manage IT staff, collaborate closely with global staff to present, and implement technology that supports organizational goals and manage and provide direct oversight of technology vendor relationships including outsource service providers.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Maintain continuity of IT operations ensuring disaster recovery and business continuity plans are in place, operational, and appropriately tested.
  • Lead team of System Administrators, Infrastructure Engineers, Network Engineers, and Security Engineers.
  • Set strategy for infrastructure and security globally.
  • Lead development, implementation, and operation of solutions to ensure data privacy and security. Implementations should advance compliance with legal forms of data use as well as support business use of data.
  • Develops long-term infrastructure strategies, plans and architectures considering trends or best practices in the field and changing organizational needs.
  • Establishes service level agreements and key service delivery performance indicators or metrics and identifies areas where performance can be improved through infrastructure changes.
  • Responsible for ensuring observability, monitoring, alerting, and availability of the infrastructure, services, and networks hosting the companys SaaS products.
  • Participate in the design of Cloud-based infrastructure solutions working alongside software architects and engineers and service domains (web, database, storage, networking, IAM, etc.) to ensure initial and anticipated future business requirements are represented.
  • Develop the roadmap, in conjunction with the other Technology leaders to implement solutions that will support the technology vision and architectural plan.
  • Lead and own the definition of the services and capabilities for the Cloud and Infrastructure services, including metrics definition, engagement model, Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BC/DR) capabilities, identity management, and operational monitoring needs.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts, as well as own and manage relationships, with key providers that pertain to Cloud and Infrastructure functions and ensure defined service levels are met for delivered and outsourced services.
  • Communicate and influence senior leadership in ideas that will drive the Cloud infrastructure deliverables that will benefit the business solutions long term
  • Driving operational efficiencies, automation, and service improvement.
  • Designing and executing a plan of consistent vulnerability and penetration testing; and managing remediation work.
  • Acts as one of the thought leaders as we move towards a platform and systems architecture and infrastructure that is highly automated, fully instrumented, self-scaling, self-healing and loosely coupled.
  • Collaboration with director team to achieve SOC 2, ISO 27001, and other appropriate certification.
  • Team engagement and continual development.
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Strong knowledge of contracting, negotiating, organization development/change management, budgeting, action planning and supervision are required for successful performance.
  • Very strong conceptual, analytical, judgment and communication abilities are critical.
  • Strategy and planning: an ability to think ahead and plan over a 12 to 36-month time span.
  • Strong customer orientation and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
 
Position Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 10 years of experience leading complex groups in infrastructure, networks, and security.
  • 10+ years’ experience in IT Infrastructure management with the conventional technology in networking, compute, and storage in virtual environments and private cloud, with significant reliability and uptime requirements.
  • 5+ years managing Azure environments and Cloud
  • Advanced experience in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) and DevOps methodologies, including previous implementation experience
  • Demonstrated experience transforming IT infrastructure and moving organizations towards a mature cloud-based service delivery model
  • Experience with public cloud architecture, cloud strategy, networking, security, and compliance workload types.
  • Experience with developing a hybrid cloud model delivered on-premises and cloud autonomy
  • Experience with managing IP-based networks, WAN technologies, virtual server technology, cloud, DHCP/DNS, SAN/NAS Storage
  • Business acumen necessary to develop and present data-based ideas and solutions in a clear, concise, and organized manner to senior level executives

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES

  • Professional certification may be required in some areas
