Turning Point Community Programs is hiring on-call support for our Garden Gate Respite program in Modesto. Turning Point Community Programs (TPCP) provides integrated, cost-effective mental health services, employment and housing for adults, children and their families that promote recovery, independence and self-sufficiency. GENERAL PURPOSE          

Responsible for assisting members in meeting their expressed goals toward crisis resolution and maintaining wellness while living in the community.  Additional support in areas of medication management, transportation, counseling and advocacy will be provided as needed.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

This is an at-will direct service position within a program. The position is responsible for assisting and advocating for our members in all areas of treatment and help them apply for and receive services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES – (ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY)

The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that could be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to this class.

  • Works ‘as needed’ to fill in for absent staff on any shift, usually at the residential facilities.
  • Teaches daily living skills.
  • Meets daily with clients and staff to organize work assignments, conduct group counseling, and discuss related issues.
  • Assists clients in the completion of their assigned task.
  • Performs facility housekeeping.
  • Assists clients with meal preparation.
  • Keeps other staff informed as to client’s progress and treatment needs.
  • Distributes medications and completes relevant charting.
  • Records in the log significant events of the shift and observations of individual clients which may be relevant to the clients’ treatment and/or success or failure at Turning Point.
  • Provides prompt intervention in the event of a crisis both to stop the crisis and to notify, when indicated, persons and agencies necessary for the resolution of the crisis situation.
  • Provides “on-the-spot” support that is both helpful to the clients and consistent with the philosophy of the program.
  • Attends to the safety of clients, does room/house checks as required on a regular basis.
  • Provides support to other staff members as needed.
  • Adheres to and upholds the policies and procedures of Turning Point Community Programs.
  • Attends all team and agency staff meetings unless approval for non-attendance is secured by the Program Director.
  • Completes all mandatory compliance and safety trainings and attends in-service trainings.
  • In Title 17 residential facilities governed under Community Care Licensing, maintains maximum CEU’s to work in said facilities.
  • Complies with annual TB testing.
  • In Title 17 residential facilities governed under Community Care Licensing, maintains a clean criminal record as exemptions will not be filed or assisted by Turning Point Community Programs.
  • Meets the standards set for performance in all aspects of job duties.
  • Meets the standard for consistent attendance (not more than a 5% absence rate per month) by reporting to every scheduled shift on time and ready to work and by the judicious use of paid sick leave and avoiding any situations resulting in the need to dock pay for time not worked.

Schedule: up to 19 hours per week On Call based on the needs of the program

 

 

 
Position Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES

Education, Training and Experience:

A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is through graduation from high school or university with an Associate degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related field; one (1) year of experience providing mental health services.

Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements:

  • California driver’s license & current vehicle insurance/registration if driving; and,
  • Reliable means of transportation capable of passing vehicle safety inspection if more than five years old excluding all modes of two-wheeled transport inclusive of bicycles, mopeds and motorcycles.
