Operational Analyst (CSAR)

The Operational Analyst (CSAR) will provide technical analysis for test teams to identify suitable and effective objectives, measures of effectiveness, measures of performance, and analytical test methods in accordance with 53d Wing guidelines and instruction.

Additional Responsibilities Include, but are not Limited To:

  • Work unique problems, using creativity, innovative use of techniques, advanced approaches, and/or new technologies.
  • Accomplish analysis of test data, determine test results, and document conclusions in a readable and easily understandable format to be included in test documentation.
  • Provide in-depth analysis for operational tests and complete all test related documents in a timely manner.
  • Timeliness is defined as within the allotted time given in the test team handbook and 53d Wing guidelines and instruction.
  • When tasked by CSAR CTF project leads, the Operational Analyst will attend meetings, conferences, briefings, and seminars related to operational testing and accomplish all 53d Wing mandated training.
  • Data collection is a prime responsibility – examples include managing the Jump Recorder Instrumentation program and objectively recording and storing data for all Division tests/activities
  • Assist with proposal development, if necessary.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned.
Position Requirements


  • At least five (5) years (three (3) years recency) of demonstrated work and technical experience in a combination of military operations, systems acquisition, requirements, and operational Support Activities.
  • At least five (5) years (three (3) years recency) experience of demonstrated work and technical experience with Air Force Operational Test and Evaluation activities on Combat Search and Rescue (CSAR) equipment, tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs).
  • At least five (5) years (three (3) years recency) experience as Test Manager/Director, or Lead Analyst, with experience in leading, planning and executing complex AF Personnel Recovery Developmental and Operational test programs.
  • Demonstrated (three (3) years recency) experience with Air Force, Air Combat Command, Air Force Material Command Test and Evaluation and JCIDS Instructions as well as Wing, Group, and Squadron supplements.
  • Have at least five (5) years (three (3) years recency) experience of demonstrated work and technical experience with Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) processes as they relate to personnel recovery operations.
  • Ability to create/prepare/conduct/deliver/attend complex oral and written decision briefs, reports, position papers, draft messages and other correspondence to HHQ staff.
  • Have at least five (5) years operational analyst employment experience.
  • Ideally a retired Air Force Operational Analyst who has completed the Operational Analyst School; well versed in designing and analyzing Operational Test Metrics to include suitable and effective objectives, measures of effectiveness, measures of performance, and analytical test methods.

Other Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Must be able to effectively communicate with customer and fulfill all duties and responsibilities as listed in the contract.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite including, but not limited to: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
