Description

Summary

The Associate Test Engineer will be involved in all engineering activities related to advancing automotive test lab technologies, maintaining existing lab equipment and machinery, and supporting technicians in completing required testing. This includes the development of new tooling designs, new systems in the lab and testing to validate designs which are under current development.

Responsibilities

  • Expand and improve laboratory systems and procedures for test request, scheduling, calibration, and work procedures.
  • Develop new tests based on customer requirements or engineering instruction.
  • Design, modify, or adapt new and existing test equipment.
  • Plan, order, and coordinate the installation of future test equipment required to adequately support internal and external requirements
  • Schedule and maintain calibrations for lab equipment with internal and external resources.
  • Perform troubleshooting/repair of test equipment.
  • Understand and respond to automotive component failure modes.
  • Create test plans, schedule, and track progress with the lab technicians and equipment.
  • Gather and thoroughly understand specifications, hardware, and tooling to prepare for upcoming validations.
  • Work with outside labs to assist/monitor tests or measurements.
  • Provide support to Lab Technicians, Application Engineers, Quality Control, Manufacturing Engineers, and Purchasing department.
  • Understand, update, and maintain analysis programs utilizing VBA and Microsoft Excel to analyze data outputs.
  • Assist Engineers in writing formal test and/or project reports utilizing test data, engineering intuition and Mechanical perception.

Position Requirements

Experience and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an accredited University or College.
  • 0-5 years’ experience in product and process development or test laboratory.
  • Mechanical aptitude and creativity required.
  • Data analysis with VBA familiarity preferred.
  • CAD Experience with Creo, or NX is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft office including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiar with the use of hand tools, electrical test equipment, and mechanical test equipment is preferred.

Additional Notes

  • Position requires the ability to lift, bend, good hand dexterity, visual inspection, and some manual handling not to exceed 35 pounds.

This position may require international travel.
