Financial Analyst 

Description

The primary purpose of this position is to assist Allegacy Federal Credit Union in living out its mission, “to help you make smart financial choices”.  To achieve this goal the employee must provide outstanding service to both internal and external members. This position conducts financial, statistical, analytical and asset/liability management functions and performs complex budgetary functions. 

Specific Accountabilities

  • Deliver outstanding service to both internal and external customers that meets or exceeds our Service Promises.
  • Maintain the credit union’s in-house Interest Rate Risk (IRR) model
  • Develop and/or refine Asset/Liability Management (ALM) methodologies using analytical tools, historical data and other appropriate information in a manner consistent with market risk modeling
  • Work closely with Senior Financial Analyst to ensure accuracy of modeling assumptions and potential strategic actions
  • Analyze financial information and make recommendations based on best practices that are consistent with short/long term goals of the company
  • Generate interest rate risk analysis, evaluate organizational interest rate risk and sensitivity of earnings to various assumptions
  • Assist with the development of budgets for the organization
  • Work on cross-functional projects and/or teams
  • Plan and monitor timelines to meet strict deadlines for internal and external reporting requirements
  • Monitor and track key performance metrics/indicators and reporting to management, including proactively highlighting success while identifying areas of improvement with possible alternatives
  • Perform trend and variance analysis, modeling and what-if scenarios to assist in reaching strategic goals
  • Build relationships with all areas of AFCU to be viewed as a business partner
  • Manage special project assignments as requested
  • Assist in coordination and communication with NCUA examiners and external auditors

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong analytical skills; must possess the ability to make quick decisions and use good judgment
  • Must be a self-starter who can work with minimal supervision, with the expectation of working as a motivated and cooperative team member
  • Must possess a high sense of urgency and work ethic
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks concurrently
  • Must have ability to generate and analyze research data including an advanced knowledge of appropriate financial analysis techniques
  • Strong communication skills including ability to effectively express complex ideas and highly technical financial information verbally and in writing in an understandable manner
  • Must demonstrate high level skills in MS Excel, including macros
  • Database skills required
  • Willingness and ability to learn new skills and take on additional responsibilities
  • Ability to work overtime as needed
  • Eligibility to be bonded
 
Position Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or similar quantitative field
  • 3-5 years experience in Accounting or Financial Analysis
  • Working knowledge of Asset Liability management tools and concepts
  • CPA and/or MBA a preferred
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word and proficiency in MS Access helpful
  • Strong critical thinking and communication skills with attention to detail
  • Financial institution experience a plus
