SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the direction of the Finance Manager, the Purchasing Agent will assist in all aspects of procurement. This position will be responsible for researching prices for supplies and materials based on best price and value commensurate with quality, lead time and/or volume. Assist with vendor relations in communicating and negotiating rates, vendor discounts, and building relationships with outside sales representatives.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Validate purchase requisitions are completed accurately including appropriate approvals
  • Generate purchase orders based on approved requisitions in a timely and efficient manner
  • Communicate with vendors to ensure supplies and materials needed are met expectations, including, price, quality, lead-time, etc.
  • Research price options and purchase items based upon best price commensurate with quality, lead-time and/or volume.
  • Secure quotes for supplies and materials for potential future contracts
  • Provide exceptional customer service while maintaining compliance with set standards and polices
  • Maintain vendor files, purchase orders and other related records
  • Perform other duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
 
Position Requirements

 

 REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION AND SKILLS

  • Required: High School Diploma or equivalent and two 2+ years’ experience in purchasing and planning functions
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Business or Finance or Supply Chain
  • Experience working with all facets of Microsoft Office Suite software
  • Excel Skills required – capturing and recording data; using shortcuts and formula functions such as; Vlookup, building charts and graphs, sorting and filtering data, utilizing Pivot Tables.
  • Knowledge of purchasing and production planning principles
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to care, respond and work with individuals with developmental disabilities
  • Ability to perform job duties with minimal supervision
  • Ability to identify, define problems and draw valid solutions
  • Ability to interpret instructions, gain knowledge and have initiative
  • Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Detailed, analytical and results oriented
  • Great Plains or similar ERP system experience required
