Share Email Opening Title Tour Guide  Category Guest Services   Position Tour Guide   Description Overview The Tour Guide will provide a welcoming, informative, and rewarding experience to Museum visitors through guided interactive tours pertaining to the history of Motown music and its impact on the world. Essential Functions Conducts Museum tours lasting 45-60 minutes; incorporating Motown songs and dance routines to engage visitors and heighten the visitor experience Conduct occasional tours of museum and facilities (behind the scenes) for VIP’s, special visiting groups, etc. as needed Assist General Manager with maintaining House Rules, safety guidelines, and bringing attention to situations that may cause damage to Museum property, injury or a disturbance Promptly and professionally greets and welcomes tour groups as they arrive Effectively and accurately presents tour information consistent with the Museum script Deal skillfully with cultural differences among visitors under a variety of circumstances Maintains awareness of changes in exhibits Provide information to visitors and answer their questions about the Museum, particularly if the tour arrives late   Position Requirements Competencies Exceptional presentation skills with a proven track record of addressing groups of 20 or more Excellent customer service and/or hospitality skills Personable, outgoing, and enthusiastic Flexible and adaptable Extensive prior knowledge of Motown Museum is not required but a prospective Tour Guide should have a working framework of the early beginnings of Motown Records Capable of learning new material rapidly and willing to spend time and expend the effort necessary to study material on Motown Museum Capable of working independently and with minimal supervision Ability to work under pressure Ability to make sound judgment Supervisory Responsibility None Work Environment This position operates in a public environment. Physical Demands/Strength While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb, talk, hear, and use repetitive motion and eye/hand/foot coordination. The employee is frequently required to stand. The position requires light work with a high-level physical effort. Environmental Conditions Moderate noise Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This position regularly requires weekend work and some evenings.
