Salary Range: $15-17 per hour

What You Will be Doing
The payroll assistant compiles and records employee time, enters payroll data, works with managers to ensure accuracy of the information and researches discrepancies, and runs reports for HR management. This position works with onboarding staff to review data entry of new staff into the payroll system, verifies the information to make certain data entered correctly, and oversees the maintenance of employee records.

Assists in administration of compensation program; supervises all payroll processing and related activities ensuring accuracy; solve problems concerning payroll, answers inquiries, and enforces payroll policies; assists in the development of overall payroll procedures by recommending improvements or changes when deemed necessary for greater efficiency; prepares all payroll statements and reports; conducts audits of various payroll, and other HR programs and recommends any corrective action.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Enters, maintains, approves, and/or processes changes and information in the HRIS system; information may include employees’ hourly rates, salaries, bonuses or other compensation, time worked, paid leave and holidays, deductions and withholding, address changes, and additional information.
  • Talks to employees about issues and answers questions related to payroll and benefits.
  • Ensures proper processing of payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, charitable contributions, wage garnishments, and other deductions.
  • Reconciles payroll to the analytics system on a biweekly basis.
  • Reviews and requests physical or replacement checks or direct deposits due to payroll errors or final discharge.
  • Records and processes garnishments help track FMLA and Worker’s Compensation leaves.
  • Completes all employment verifications and sends them to the appropriate individual/agency.
  • Filing/scanning of payroll items to individual HR files.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
 
Position Requirements

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:

  • At least 18 years of age
  • One to three years of experience in a similar administrative capacity.
  • Six months of accounting or payroll experience.
  • Must have strong organizational and computer skills (MS Office suite) and the ability to learn new programs expeditiously.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

  • One year of experience in HR, finance, or related field preferred.
  • One year of experience working with intellectually or developmentally disabled individuals.
  • Previous HRIS system experience.
