Position summary: As part of the pouch making team you will be responsible for starting up, adjusting, and shutting down the machine daily. Also package finished product per customer requirements and perform all necessary quality checks to ensure quality material is being produced.

Essential functions and responsibilities:

  • Operate pouch making machine and perform minor adjustments to machinery to ensure product quality
  • Work closely with Quality Tech to ensure product quality
  • Maintains product safety, legality, regulatory compliance, and quality systems
  • Report any potential food safety, legality, quality, or food defense concerns to the Plant Manager or Quality personnel
  • Follow all documented Good Manufacturing Practices
  • Must follow all company policies and procedures
  • This is a safety sensitive position
  • All other duties as required
 
Position Requirements

Qualifications required:

  • Attention to detail

  • Fork-lift truck experience
  • Organized and thorough

  • Willingness to be a team player
  • Some computer skills helpful
  • Must have some mechanical aptitude
  • Previous experience running and setting production machinery

Success factors/job competencies:

  • Report to work on scheduled days, on time
  • Perform all daily duties in a safe manner
  • Continuously supply, operate, and respond to assigned pouch machine
  • Maintain cleanliness of assigned pouch machine and area
  • Maintain an average of 75% efficiency on assigned pouch machine
  • Produce and identify quality parts in accordance with company specifications
  • Maintain scrap at 10% or better on assigned pouch machine
  • Teamwork, trustworthy, and responsible
  • Able to back up lead pouch machine operator in the event of absence or vacation
  • Meet all company KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators)

Physical demands and work environment:

  • Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls: reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; talk or hear. Employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Work environment: While performing the duties of this job the employee is/or may be exposed to high noise levels that require hearing protection. Employee may also be required to wear safety glasses and/or safety gloves.
