Position Summary:

Sciton is seeking a technician with hands-on mechanical skills to support research and development of our top-of-the-line medical laser systems.  The technician will be responsible for designing and building prototypes, test fixtures, components, and specialized tools using our on-site workspace. Other duties will include modifying existing components, providing feedback on new designs, and basic CAD work. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to quickly and effectively complete tasks with available resources. We strongly value the applicant with a dynamic, motivated attitude and creative problem-solving abilities, and will want applicants to provide concrete examples.

 
Position Requirements

Essential Requirements:

  • Shop skills (Milling machine, lathe, hand tools) 
  • Basic electrical work (Soldering, wiring, troubleshooting) 
  • Experience keeping an engineering notebook 
  • Experience with CAD (Solidworks) 
  • Use of Microsoft Excel for data RecordingGenerating physical test fixtures for devices 
  • Simple programming (Arduino scripting, LabView, Mathematica)
  • Experience drafting work instructions
  • Experience using 3D Printers 
  • Prototype building 
  • Optical and mechanical fixturing
