Position Summary:

The R&D team at Sciton is looking for an experienced laser technician to help us build and evaluate prototype designs as we innovate for the future. As part of the greater R&D team, you will be a key player pushing the envelope for high priority projects! From aligning opto-mechanics, to testing laser efficiency, throughput and damage thresholds, we will depend on your astute observations and detailed documentation!

The Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate should be comfortable and excited to build, align and test new lasers on optical breadboards and within existing system designs. Diagnosing early-stage performance and providing feedback on system throughput will be critical to this role. Quality documentation in notebooks and work instructions will help push ideas into real world devices. If this ambiguity and participation in the development process excites you, please apply!

 
Position Requirements

Essential Requirements:

  • 2+ years in laser alignment, building, tuning, testing
  • Skills with laser profiling, energy and power measurements
  • Familiarity with keeping an engineering notebook for detailed documentation
  • Experience in any of the following would make a candidate particularly attractive: Excel, Opto-mechanics, crystal lasers, diode lasers, device life testing, basic electronics, oscilloscope use,  experimental design, cooling systems, basic machining, writing work instructions and quality test documents.
  • Ability to communicate the results of analyses in a clear and effective manner

 

Experience/Education:

Although education in engineering or a STEM field will be invaluable, experience and comfort with laser specific equipment is the key requirement for success in this position.
