Business Applications Analyst II - Hybrid Remote

Summary: Individuals in the job are responsible for assisting Tropical Financial Credit Union in the achievement of its purpose of guiding members successfully through the financial marketplace. Additionally, this position is an individual contributor to the development, maintenance, and enhancement of the Credit Union’s business applications, providing specialized technical or business knowledge to projects. This position is assigned to projects within the Information Technology Department or other areas of the CU.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • An individual in this position is required to interact with peer workers in business units and IT personnel and has contact with vendors, industry peers, and professional associations to keep informed of existing and evolving industry standards and technologies.
  • Supports the mission of TFCU by providing excellent service to members (both external and internal) and by maintaining a positive outlook.
  • Participate in multi-discipline project teams and serve as IT liaison, helping the team with the scope and translating technology needs.
  • Ensures execution of daily operational tasks related to production, maintenance, support, and monitoring of business applications. 
  • Executes improvements to technology, process, or operations to improve efficiency and service standards.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for ongoing and completed projects.
  • Assists in implementing hardware and software to support business applications and related equipment.  Assists in I.T. projects as needed.
  • Assist in troubleshooting of new and existing core system integrations with third-party partners.
  • Follows procedures related to the change control process for assigned application systems and related ecosystems.
  • Collaborate to implement core system release loads or O/S patch upgrades.
  • Collaborate to complete daily, month-end, and year-end business applications processing.
  • Investigates issues and errors, diagnoses problems, and resolves or presents findings and possible solutions.
  • Gathers technical requirements for assigned technology projects.
  • Research, design, test, and deploy new and upgraded business system applications.
  • Assist with Disaster Preparedness and Recovery plan and implementation for business applications
  • Work with functional business areas to facilitate requirement gathering for new products or updates.
  • Monitor daily backups and restore processes as needed. 
  • Assist the Help Desk staff with problem resolution and new requests implementation.
  • Maintain and manages data retention according to TFCU’s data retention policy.
  • Work flexible hours and be available for on-call rotation and after-hours support (7x24 operations).
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for completed projects and existent applications as needed.
  • Provide training and mentoring to I.T. Staff as needed.
  • Work with vendors, industry peers, and professional associations to keep informed of existing and evolving industry standards and technologies.
  • BSA Compliance:  every employee is required to uphold the credit union’s compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act and anti-money laundering policies and procedures.  Specific functions within TFCU will take into consideration the awareness of unusual or suspicious activity that is relevant to the department.

Position Requirements

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Three (3) or more years of experience in Financial Systems application design, development, installation, or modification in an in-house or online environment.
  • One (1) or more years of third-party integration with business application experience is desired.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience with MS SQL  2016, 2019 database management to include day-to-day administration of database server including installation, maintenance and configuration are desired.
  • General understanding and knowledge of Oracle DB tools are desired.
  • Basic skills in project task definition and project management applications, such as Microsoft Project
  • Familiarity with standard Microsoft Office applications including MS Project
  • Ability to meet deadlines in an organized and timely fashion.
  • Ability to handle challenging situations under pressure with professionalism and courtesy.
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills with an ability to express complex technical concepts in business terms.
  • Solid teamwork and interpersonal skills; ability to work well on cross-functional project teams and foster team commitment to tasks.


Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS, or related discipline, or equivalent work experience and technical training, preferred.
  • 3+ years of front or back office experience at a Financial Institution core application system preferred.
  • Project Management Experience preferred (PMP or like certification is a plus)
  • Database Management experience in eloquence, SQL, or Oracle a preferred.
  • Programming experience is a plus (e.g. ASP, HTML, .NET, SQL)
