Come join our team!   Full-Time/Part-Time Full-Time   Exempt/Non-Exempt Exempt   Number of Openings 1   Description Blue Marble Productions, Inc. is a world-class developer, processor, and co-packer of branded and private label alcohol and non-alcohol-based products for the beverage industry. The Research and Development Manager is responsible for maintaining and improving all aspects of quality manufacturing and basic research of products. Understand process capabilities, limitations, and risks Evaluate product feasibility and escalate risks to relevant stakeholders Perform small scale benchtop experiments Ensure projects are executed in compliance with FDA and TTB regulatory requirements Submit formulas and labels for approval through the TTB Maintain customer formulations and liquid specifications Build Bill of Materials and product specifications in SAP Perform alcohol tax cost calculations and finished product costs per can Monitor batching process and data to ensure customer requirements are met Troubleshoot and correct batches of out of spec product Create batching procedures and advise on CIP requirements and pasteurizer temperature settings Train personnel in sensory evaluation Perform shelf life studies Evaluate finished product and/or raw materials for shelf life extensions Communicate with QA to release product after microbial testing Create paperwork for proper production line setup Review supplier ingredient documentation to advise on proper material handling/storage for kosher, allergen, and organic materials Evaluate documentation for secondary ingredient suppliers Order materials for lab Monitor daily lab operations - calibrations, lab results, micro results, sample collection, sensory Update or create Standard Operating Procedures and/or One Point Lessons Develop operational initiatives and participate in various meetings for same. Work with Sales, Operations, and Supply Chain to onboard new customers and commercialize new products Develop positive work relationships with customers and suppliers Manage lab technicians Follows all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) for the area worked Ensure personal safety, food safety, and quality protocols are followed, especially with a focus on adherence to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) protocols and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs). Utilizes all food safety and food security guidelines, including Safe Quality Foods (SQF) good manufacturing practices and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points. Other duties assigned by the Supervisor/Manager   Position Research & Development Manager - Food & Beverage Manufacturing   Position Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Biology, Microbiology, or related science, or related field required. Must be 21 years of age 3+ years in food and beverage manufacturing operations required Knowledge and technical understanding of beverage/ liquid processing preferred Understanding of HACCP, FDA, TTB, ATC, SQF, and other Food & Beverage regulations preferred Previous people management skills with demonstrated ability to lead teams Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook…etc.) Demonstrable experience of developing and implementing quality processes and operational improvements with an ability to assess and demonstrate critical thinking, adherence to policies, processes and systems Must be able to read, recognize and speak the English language Must be able to work overtime when needed Competencies: Must have the ability to add value, reduce costs and make business improvements Must have the ability to build cross functional relationships and have the ability to work as part of a team and interact effectively with others Must have the ability to influence others to act in support of ideas, programs, or causes. Must have the ability to facilitate change for the success of the business Must possess excellent communication skills Must have great attention to detail, essential problem-solving methods and initiative Must be results orientated with ability to plan and deliver against project deadlines tasks in a timely and accurate manner with minimal supervision Must have the ability to positively resolve issues arising from different cultures Must have the ability to learn and apply policies, procedures, standards and guidelines Must have the ability to work in a fast paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes Must have the ability to receive, understand and proactively respond to direction from supervisors/managers and other members of leadership Working Conditions: Must be able to stand/walk for up to 10 hours, and be able to frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach Must be able, with or without reasonable accommodation, be able to lift up to 50 pounds depending on job task Must be able, with or without reasonable accommodation, be able to operate carts, dollies, and hand trucks of up to 100 lbs.
