Verdant Graphics is our full-service printing division, and we have some exciting growth plans in store for 2022, which means we're currently looking for a Pre-Press Specialist to help us facilitate that growth.

The Position:

The Pre-Press Specialist will be responsible for creating, reviewing, and editing supplied digital files to meet press specs, as well as accurately proofreading to ensure that the final copy, graphics, and photos match the customer's supplied material. Some of the principal duties of this role include (but are not limited to):

  • Always conducting self in a manner consistent with Convivial Brands' Core Values of being Trustworthy, Pursuing Excellence, and exemplifying a Team First mindset.
  • Setting the foundation for successful printing production, including the format, appearance, and layout of text and images.
  • Reviewing electronic files received from customers and checking them for accuracy in advance of the plate making process.
  • Using electronic page layout software to manipulate the format of the print job to the dimensions of the paper.
  • Determining page layouts, accounting for folds, trims, bleeds, and gripper, and adding crop marks and color bars as necessary.
  • Identifying missing or problematic components and communicating them to the customer and production personnel.
  • Working directly with the customer service rep, customer, and production personnel as necessary to work out any problems with the job.
  • Preparing color proofs for customer review as needed.
  • Imposing images and operatings CTP plate making equipment and bending/tabbing equipment to prepare plates for press as needed.
  • Performing quality checks on finished plates before releasing to manufacturing. Inspecting and examining printed products for clarity, color accuracy, conformance to specifications, and external defects.
  • Coordinating and prioritizing with the Printing Supervisor daily to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Operating and performing light maintenance and cleaning of print shop equipment.
  • Managing relationships with suppliers and outside vendors.
