This position supports both the Benefits and Compensation areas. This role is responsible for assisting with the daily administration of all benefit programs, including Health and Welfare plans (Medical/Rx, Dental, Vision, Life, Disability, EAP, Voluntary Benefit Programs), the 401(k) Plan and leave management, working with vendors and HR/employees to problem solve issues, address concerns and ensure accurate and timely administration of the plans. This position's primary focus in the Compensation area is on developing job descriptions, conducting salary and benchmark reviews against market data, creation and maintenance of job code tables and wage bands, verification of any bonus/incentive payments and assisting with the merit review process. This role must stay abreast of all federal, state and local legislative changes and trends related to Compensation and Benefits to ensure compliance.


  • Process FMLA requests and other leaves and communication with HR/employees and supervisors related to requirements, tracking of leaves, and benefit premium billing and collections.
  • Development of job descriptions and evaluation of such jobs against market data to ensure proper titling and pay, aligned with internal equity.
  • Assisting with special projects related to the Compensation and Benefits area (e.g., open enrollment, systems enhancements, surveys, merit process, equity reviews, title alignment, process documentation, required mailings, merger and acquisition activity, …)
  • Initial point of contact for customer inquiries. Work with HR Managers, Directors, employees and other team members to problem solve issues and communicate and educate on policies and matters related to Compensation and Benefits.
  • Assisting with the development, proofing and communication of all Health and Welfare communications throughout the year, including for new hires, open enrollment, and ongoing employee education.
  • Assisting with the processing of all vendor invoices and tracking of such against budgets.
Position Requirements


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required; 2+ years of HR experience, preferably in Benefits and/or Compensation.

Required Licenses

  • SHRM PHR certification plus.

Skills and Abilities

  • Skilled in Microsoft Office products.
  • Skilled in Excel.
  • Ability to clearly, consicely and accurately communicate policies and opinions to ensure understanding by others.
  • Excellent math and analytical skills required with ability to evaluate and make decisions based on facts and trends.
  • Ability to problem solve.
  • Knowledge of Compensation tools such as CompAnalyst or Market Pay preferred.
  • Exposure to Ultipro or a similar robust HR system preferred.
