Description

The Sr. Manufacturing Engineer's responsibilities include identifying areas for improvement, maintaining high levels of manufacturing and product quality, designing new products and processes, as well as ensuring cost-efficiency and conformance with regulatory standards.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Develops and improves manufacturing processes by studying product and manufacturing methods and proposing changes that support cost and quality improvements.
  • Evaluates manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials and soliciting observations from operators.
  • Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment.
  • Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
  • Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished-product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.
  • Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.
  • Completes design and development projects.
 
Position Requirements

Preferred Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a machining, assembly and test environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Sound experience with Manufacturing Processes, Lean Manufacturing, TFC’s, APQP, FMEA’s Control Plans, DOE’s, MSA’s, GD&T, Flow Diagram, Fishbone Diagrams, Structured Problem Solving and Root Cause Analysis, SPC and Capability Studies, Gaging, etc.
  • Ability to perform process design, product design and cost estimating on both current products as well as on prospective products.
  • Solid Works, AutoCad, Simulation software experience desired and/or ability to learn quickly is highly desirable.
  • Ability to design, product, processing and measurement systems to improve valve and other components highly desirable.
  • Understanding of pressure relief valves, check valves, solenoid valves as they relate to manufacturing and testing as it relates to set pressure, flow and leak is highly desirable.

Additional Knowledge Preferred:

CNC Machining Knowledge:

  • Research and recommend – starting speeds/feeds used for different materials and troubleshooting machining issues based on that info.
  • Understanding of CNC machining process steps and sequences.
  • Basic ability to read CNC program.

Cutting Tools:

  • Thorough knowledge of cutting tool geometry basics as applied to tool design and development.
  • Troubleshooting machining issues and interfacing between operator and cutting tool vendor.

CMM Knowledge:

  • Basic understanding of datums and how diameters are calculated.

Tolerance and GD&T

  • Good understanding of tolerances and capabilities of different CNC machines vs product design requirements.
  • Fundamental knowledge of how to calculate and apply tolerance stack analysis to an assembly.
