About the Organization Established June 15, 1971, Valley Community Services Board is a publicly funded organization where citizens of Staunton, Waynesboro, and Augusta and Highland Counties can receive Behavioral Health, Substance Use and Developmental Services services. Valley Community Services Board serves as the single point of entry into publicly funded mental health, developmental, and substance use disorder services for these localities.

Description

This employee works at Middle River Regional Jail as a member of a Team responsible for providing Licensed Outpatient services to individuals at the Jail determined to be living with Serious Mental Illness.  Candidate will complete assessments, develop treatment plans, and provide individual/group therapy to individuals incarcerated and living with Serious Mental Illness.  This will include crisis intervention, prescreening for inpatient substance abuse detoxification and discharge planning.

Position Requirements

Requires master’s degree with a major course of study in Human Services (e.g., Counseling, Social Work, Rehabilitation Counseling) and must be acceptable by the Virginia Department of Health Professions as a sufficient master’s degree to allow licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Licensed Substance Abuse Practitioner, or a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.  Supervision for licensure is provided.
