Description

The Training Instructor will be responsible for the provision of training and advocacy support for participants in the Opportunity Village Employment Training Programs. Employee will work closely with all members of the Job Development team, managers, supervisors, Desert Regional Center, Vocational Rehab and parents/guardians/ family members to support each participant towards achievement of their goal of employment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Responsible for providing training to participants in the Employment Training Program. Provide guidance, feedback and insight as to how job tasks might be completed in a more effective and efficient manner.
  2. Will accompany participants to and from the community training site via Regional Transport Commission (RTC),
  3. Provide assistance with job-specific challenges that may be present.
  4. Identify and support participant’s short-term and long-term career goals.
  5. Communicate with management team, job development team, Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation, Desert Regional Center, RTC and parents/guardians/family members.
  6. Responsible for working with participants to expand and enhance their job skills in preparation for more lucrative employment within the Agency or employment in the “real-world” setting. This includes assistance with résumé preparation; assistance with job searches, completion of job applications and job interview training.
  7. Responsible for networking and maintaining a professional positive relationship with the community site to expand existing lines of training as well as cultivate new opportunities/choices for participants who desire to obtain work experience for competitive employment.
  8. Prepare all necessary documentation including but not limited to, quarterly reports; incident reports; ID notes; monthly training reports; maintain and submit daily attendance and RTC ride manifest for all individuals in the program.
  9. Attend participant’s Annual Person Centered Planning meetings.
  10. Responsible for assuring compliance with all Federal and State regulations and company policies and procedures.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned.
 
Position Requirements

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals, co-workers and supervisors (verbal and written).
  • Must possess social perceptiveness to assess and understand other’s reactions and behaviors.
  • Strong verbal, written and communication skills
  • Good organizational skills, ability to set priorities
  • Good coaching and customer service skills
  • Good computer skills including Word and Excel software knowledge
  • Ability to work independently in a results-based environment
  • Ability to network and establish new business

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred: Experience working with individuals with disabilities.
  • Required: Minimum one (1) year work experience in related field.
  • Required: Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Required: High School Diploma
  • Required: A valid Nevada Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
  • Experience in Vocational Rehabilitation, Special Education, Customer Service, Business Management, or Public Relations are preferred.

  • Ability to conduct tasks and successfully perform under critical deadlines.
  • Manual dexterity to operate office equipment and examine documents, records and files.
