SUMMARY: The Business Intelligence Analyst (BIA) is responsible for providing: data management; report design and production; development and maintenance of dashboards; analysis of systems to improve the efficiency of reporting; and, provide support and training in report contents and use for diverse corporate stakeholders. The BIA participates in evaluating new technologies to ensure the advancement of data solution architecture as well as data quality and security within the organization.

This position is remote, and based at our Arcata Tomas administration building. PLEASE NOTE: We are interested in every qualified candidate who is eligible to work in the United States; we are not able to sponsor visas.

 
Position Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create and maintain a library of data and reporting documentation, the content of which includes, but will be limited to: a data dictionary of all tables used in reports and their relationships; a report catalog; data standards; and BI processes and procedures for the vetting, specification, development, testing and distribution of data reports;
  • Review library and use existing reports when appropriate to answer data requests; determine the best delivery platform, resources, and distribution when new reports are required;
  • Maintain data integrity, including the identification of data integrity issues identified by related analyses, users or system functionality problems;
  • Distribute reports via shared software, email, chat, online or face-to-face presentations. The BIA is expected to identify materials findings, data reliability and validity, and offer potential corrections through personnel, training or technology;
  • Proactively gather information from various sources and synthesize that data to identify trends, patterns, problems or opportunities for improvement;
  • Make recommendations regarding the methods ODCHC uses or should use to collect, analyze and manage data for analysis as well as improvement of data reliability and validity and efficiency of systems;
  • Other related duties as identified, required and assigned.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This is a non-supervisory position; however, the Business Intelligence Analyst works with and responds to the reporting needs of a variety of people across the corporation.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: All employees are expected to be able to: work collaboratively and autonomously as appropriate; work on multiple tasks within the same time frame; work with a sense of urgency; at times work under pressure;, and meet deadlines. Non-proprietary or non-confidential work samples may be requested. A combination of education and experience is preferred. Candidates will possess:

  • Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in a directly related area;
  • Working knowledge of Business Intelligence and reporting tools; demonstrated data analytics experience, skills and aptitude; prior experience with advanced analytics highly desirable;
  •  Advanced SQL scripting skills;
  • Degree in Computer Science, HIM or related field preferred

 

SUPERVISION AND SUPPORT: The Business Intelligence Analyst reports to the Director of Business Intelligence who will oversee the daily activities of this position. The BIA receives requests for data and reports from multiple ODCHC departments. The Director of Business Intelligence and the Information Technologies Department will provide training and support in maintaining and modifying external and internal data bases, security and distribution methods.

  • Speaking and hearing sufficient to communicate effectively by telephone, video or in-person at normal volumes.
  • Vision adequate to read documents, computer screens, forms and designs and to differentiate colors as necessary.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to use a computer keyboard and mouse and view computer screens for extended periods of time.
  • Have a reliable means of transportation to travel throughout the ODCHC service area and, as necessary, have a valid California Driver’s License and an insurable driving record.
