Hui Huliau is a nonprofit Native Hawaiian Organization (NHO) and community service organization whose business activities principally benefit Native Hawaiians. As an NHO we operate under U. S. Small Business Administration (SBA) regulations and own small businesses that participate in the SBA 8(a) Business Development Program for minority owned companies. Our small businesses provide a variety of contracted services to the U. S. Military, U. S. Civilian agencies, and commercial customers at locations worldwide.

Profits from Hui Huliau's for-profit subsidiaries help sustain important education, social, economic, and cultural preservation programs that serve Native Hawaiians in the Waianae community. The Waianae Coast on the western side of the island of Oahu has the highest per capita percentage of Native Hawaiians in the world and the highest poverty and unemployment rate in the State of Hawaii.

Shift Days  

Hui Huliau, a Global Federal Government Contracting Firm, is seeking a General Ledger Accountant in Tampa, FL. Our ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a minimum of 2 years of related experience in Accounting.


  • Assist with transactional and technical general ledger accounting activities for multiple entities inclusive of small businesses, 8(a), HUBZone, and government contracting.
  • Assist with timely and accurate financial reporting, compliant with company policies and procedures and U.S. GAAP of all entities.
  • Report to the company’s Controller and leadership team to provide monthly and quarterly updates.
  • Assist with the company’s financial statements preparation - individual and consolidated balance sheets and statements of operations and cash flow.
  • Support and assist with the timely and accurate submission of annual incurred cost, forward pricing, and billing rate proposals.
  • Assist with and play an integral role in the company’s monthly and quarterly closing, reconcile accounts, and code journal entries to the general ledger.
  • Assist with and play an integral role in the company’s accounts payable function, multi-state payroll, and cash management/treasury functions.
  • Maintain positive interactions with external and internal auditors to ensure audit issues are investigated, resolved, and remediated where appropriate.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Minimum two (2) years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a Government Contracting environment.
  • Strong knowledge of general technical accounting, month end close, payroll, etc. is required
  • Deltek Costpoint experience is a plus.
  • Experience with intercompany transactions, elimination journal entries and consolidation of multiple entities is plus.
  • Experience with DCAA & DCMA audits and reviews is a plus.
  • Knowledge of U.S. GAAP, FAR/DFAR, and SBA 8(a) Program is plus.
  • Knowledge of various government contract award types, firm fixed price, cost plus, as well as labor rates, etc. are all pluses.
  • Ability to work and communicate well at all levels within the company.
