Description

As an Instructional Designer, you will develop learning program content for internal and external audiences including new employee onboarding, manager, leader, department-specific and client training.

What are the general responsibilities of the position?

  • Design and develop learning content based on input from subject matter experts across departments, other written material, and/or previous training courses
  • Determine the most suitable training delivery options, including eLearning, independent, self-paced activities, live web-based and classroom sessions, to make learning engaging and effective
  • Create training guides, workbooks, job aids, and other supporting materials
  • Coordinate training program activities to ensure success, e.g., scheduling, printing training material, completing live instruction recordings, sending follow-up communications, etc.
  • Conduct training events to ensure success, e.g., preparing training supplies, facilitating live instruction, completing webinar recording, sending follow up communications, etc.
  • Understand the learner’s needs, creating the right environment for learning, and build rapport with participants during the session
  • Upload new courses and activities to learning management system and perform tasks such as user enrollments, archiving, course descriptions
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and implement adjustments as necessary
  • Update course content to ensure accuracy and incorporate feedback from reviews and training events into subsequent versions.
  • “Train-the-trainer” when guest instructors are best
  • Learn new services, technology, and internal processes to support the training program content
  • Use strong interpersonal, written and visual communication skills to bring together text, images, video and audio to communicate
 
Position Requirements

What are we looking for in a candidate?

  • Bachelor’s degree in instructional design (Human Resource Development, Industrial and Organizational Psychology) or a related discipline (e.g. education) with a minimum of 3-5 years of instructional design and/or eLearning experience; or a combination of education and experience
  • Experience with curriculum development, deployment, and delivery of manager, employee and/or customer training
  • Familiarity with instructional design methods and training techniques including curriculum design principles, learning theory and blended-learning strategies
  • Experience successfully collaborating with subject matter experts to design learning and development programs and initiatives
  • Familiarity with content formats such as microlearning, self-paced learning, guided learning, and live virtual events
  • Experience with learning management systems preferred
  • Experience with eLearning authoring tools (Articulate preferred)
  • Strong skill using Microsoft PowerPoint and Word
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and communicate effectively with remote learners
  • Excellent collaboration and relationship-building skills
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
  • Confident, pro-active, self-starter
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy
