Our custom digital applications have been installed and commissioned on a wide range of VIP/VVIP narrowbody and widebody platforms in addition to numerous private and utility jet, turboprop, and helicopter models. Astronics CCC is a world leader in designing and integrating custom digital IFE/CMS systems. Our product line covers every facet of in-flight entertainment and cabin management control including: entertainment, lighting, call, temperature, audio/video on demand, tablet integration, real-time 3-D moving map, and much more. We also offer customized graphical user interfaces accessible on our touchscreens, allowing seamless and intuitive control of the IFE/CMS system.   The Mechanical Design Engineer III will design, analyze and document the mechancial aspects of In-Flight-Entertainment/Information systems and equipment.     Responsibilities Perform engineering development by applying a moderate to high degree of creativity, engineering skill and judgment in applying engineering principals. Develop detailed packaging designs for electronic equipment, including mechanical housings which meet environmental requirements of temperature, shock, and vibration and are consistent with applicable specifications and sound engineering practices. Develop detailed designs which accurately translate requirements into product features. Conducts feasibility studies and engineering testing on new and modified designs. Generate detailed design drawings using SOLIDWORKS CAD, DraftSight, and Product Data Management (PDM). Expected to be fully competent with this software. Generate changes to design documentation packages for existing products (ECOs). Maintain 3D models and design documentation to that configuration. Provide solutions to problems of moderate to complex scope. Participates in design reviews of own and other’s designs. Support environmental tests to acquire engineering data and for certification efforts. Evaluate design options for thermal and structural integrity using FEA tools.     Position Requirements Education/Experience Bachelor of Science Mechanical Engineering 8 to 12+ years experience   Competencies Demonstrate personal leadership in day-to-day and project level decisions and attitudes Communication Proficient Collaboration Skills Customer/Client Focus Organizational Skills Ethical Conduct Personal Effectiveness/Credibility Time Management   Physical: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk or hear.
