JOB SUMMARY:

Under the general supervision of the Girls Inc. RAP Program Director, this full-time position coordinates the Girls RAP (Resolution and Prevention) program.  The RAP program engages and empowers girls involved or at risk of being involved in the juvenile justice system as well as truancy diversion. This position leads and administers the Girls RAP program; oversees the direct supervision of staff; develops client-centered, outcome-based gender specific programming; tracks and monitors program success; prepares and submits reports and other documentation as required and manages program budget. Coordinator will have a caseload and participate in facilitating groups. Coordinator will be responsible for meeting department outcomes, tracks and monitors program success.
 
The Coordinator also collaborates and maintains an effective working relationship with School partners, stakeholders, funders, families, and other youth serving organizations. The Coordinator will manage the relationships with OJP and CCP and other at risk associations. This position will understand and implement the YWCA mission, values, goals and policies.  This position will also participate on external committees related to the program goals; and support the Girls Inc® team ensuring that Girls Inc® concepts, philosophies and curriculum are implemented into overall programming. This position will support and work collaboratively across the Girls and Youth Department.

Hours: 40 hrs/wk Monday – Friday daytime/early evening hours, with occasional weekend programming | Shifts and sites vary based on program need

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Manage the Girls RAP Program:

  • Provide leadership and management of the Girls RAP program ensuring program outcomes are met.
  • Oversee implementation of program outcomes and services, evaluate and report outcomes and scope of services.
  • Serve as a resource for girls and advocate for girls’ rights.
  • Assist in other girls and youth programs as needed.
  • Open one-on-one cases through referrals from county and state agencies via home intakes and visits
  • Make home visits as required for recruitment through county contract agreement
  • Plan, prepare and facilitate/co-facilitate age appropriate and culturally sensitive educational activities utilizing Girls Inc. and Girls & Youth curriculum

Staff Supervision

  • Recruit, hire, coach, and supervise staff consistent with mission and policies. Develop individual and program outcomes with staff including annual growth plans.
  • Practice conflict resolution that models respect for differences, is non-threatening, calm and de-escalating in style.
  • Manage systems for human resources, payroll and staff certification.

External Relations

  • Build and maintain working relationships with external partners
  • Assist Director with continued development of programming, short and long-range goals, strategic planning, and budget expenditures

Administration

  • Compile and document monthly and quarterly program outcome report.
  • Support grant reporting for all funding sources, ensure department accuracy and use of current data systems. Contribute as needed with other required reporting procedures.
  • Maintain case management records through a data management system with a commitment to accuracy and regularity

 

 

RELATIONSHIPS:

This position reports to the Girls Inc. Program Director who reports to the Chief Program officer. The incumbent will interact with the Girls and Youth department, community and school partners. Critical relationships will include Community Partners, Girls and Youth Leadership team, Direct Reports, Organizational Advancement, Funders, and Human Resources. Support racial justice programming within the department. Provide leadership to ensure quality standards within the department and team. Participate on the Girls and Youth and Girls Inc® Leadership teams Collaborate with other YWCA departments to ensure youth development practices and philosophies are understood and implemented. Represent the agency and Girls RAP in the community, by actively participating on key community associations and committees.
 

 
Position Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • BA in sociology, psychology, social work, criminal justice from an accredited four-year College or University or a unrelated BA and 1 year of social work/case management at a social service agency.
  • Two+ years’ experience working with youth in at-risk situations
  • Two+ years’ experience planning and facilitating effective, structured groups
  • Two+ years’ supervisory experience
  • Ability to set standards, create a positive environment, coach and motivate staff to reach programming goals.
  • Experience with writing reports and documentation program outcomes
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation skills
  • Ability to facilitate and teach comprehensive groups
  • Strong time management and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work with a variety of cultures, backgrounds and perspectives
  • Strong problem solving skills and ability to make quick decisions while using good judgment
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to relate effectively and work collaboratively with youth, families and professionals including school personnel of diverse backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of Minneapolis public schools, juvenile resources and other youth serving resources
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with reliable transportation and able to transport self to different program locations throughout the work day.
  • Knowledge of the juvenile justice system, truancy and case management.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Possess current CPR and First Aid certification, or successfully obtain within 90 days of hire
  • Strong belief in YWCA and ability to convey its importance

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of experiential learning processes
  • Facilitation and group process experience
  • Supervisory experience with an ability to set standards and train staff in creative programming.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Must be able to occasionally life and/or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Be able to travel from various YWCA or community sites.
  • Must have the ability to play and lead program and activities that may include running, throwing, kicking, etc.

 

Compensation: The pay range for this position is $50,000-$55,000 per annual (depending on qualifications)
