Description

OFN has a great opportunity for a talented individual interested in making an impact and taking ownership of the administrative and logistical aspects of our expanding External Affairs department. This is a great opportunity for someone who is interested in various facets of public policy and communications. The Coordinator will provide support for the Public Policy and Strategic Communications staff around scheduling and project coordination. This position will work collaboratively within the team as well as other departments across the organization to support and facilitate communication and project management. Serves as a team member on company directed projects as required. This is a new role on an expanded team and a successful candidate will have an entrepreneurial spirit and motivation to craft and grow the role.

Currently OFN has an on-balance sheet loan portfolio of $150 million and manages capital on-and off-balance sheet of nearly $1 billion and has plans to bring additional $1 billion in new private capital to the industry.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Supports the Chief External Affairs Officer in effectively managing the diverse work priorities of the department.
  • Serves as the primary liaison for communication and collaboration between the two functions of the External Affairs team: Public Policy and Strategic Communications. Identifying ongoing opportunities for collaboration and engagement.
  • Coordinates information sharing and reporting for the department.
  • Manages the scheduling of virtual and in-person meetings with external parties including Congressional and Executive branch staff, reporters, and coalition partners.
  • Assist with linking projects between OFN departments and with other organizations.
  • Tracks accountability metrics through Salesforce and other digital technology tools.
  • Drafts routine correspondence, blog posts, and reports.
  • Manages the Policy Action Center, OFN’s online grassroots advocacy tool.

 

 
Position Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree of 5-7 years of work experience in lieu of a degree.
  • 1-3 years of experience in communications, business administration, public policy, or social sciences required.
  • 1-3 years of professional experience in the CDFI industry, nonprofit sector, trade association, or account management preferred.
  • Experience supporting organization level operations preferred.
  • Experience supporting executive staff members a plus.
  • Must possess a strong passion for, understanding of, and commitment to OFN’s mission, vision, and values. In addition, be a fearless advocate, who is confident and resilient in OFN’s fight to drive capital into low-income communities.
  • A collaborative team player who possesses the interpersonal skills to work across all levels of the organization, humility, and a willingness to learn in all areas of our work. Be a strong team contributor, effective and comfortable in leading as well as supporting roles within teams.
  • Be a smart, quick seeker of knowledge with the ability to think strategically, creatively, and tactically to analyze results and assist in implementing plans for increasing capital to communities we serve.
  • Digital literacy and ability to navigate advanced workplace technology and software.
  • Excellent administrative, grammar, written and verbal communications skills required.
  • Ability to be a self-starter and manage multiple tasks with a strong attention to detail under moderate supervision in effective and efficient manner.
  • Excellent organizational/time management skills required to independently prioritize work on diverse assignments in a fast-paced setting.
  • Ability to work well with diverse constituents is required.
  • Ability to interface with employees at all levels of the organization both internally and externally.
  • Occasional travel required (5% of time).
  • Knowledge of and commitment to community development is beneficial.
  • No extraordinary physical requirements beyond ability to travel.
  • Job involves normal physical requirements for an office position.
