About the Organization Hydrobuilder Holdings (HBH) was initially formed through the acquisitions of Hydrobuilder.com, a leading online retailer of hydroponics and horticultural supplies, GreenCoast Hydroponics, the second-largest hydroponics retailer in the United States, and Los Angeles, Calif.-based Elevated Equipment Supply, full-service equipment and supplies provider for the commercial cultivation and specialty agriculture industries. Description

The VP Operations is responsible for directing the warehouse operations and fleet logistics for assigned facilities by formulating and administering organization policies, forecasting, and analyzing financial data, and managing internal and external relationships. Provide timely feedback and guidance for both their team and to fellow executives on operations-related issues.

 

 
Position Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Directs the activities of all functions involved in the warehousing and control of materials -- from the development of labor standards in warehouses to managing and supervising the warehouse managers in our Elevated Equipment locations, currently in Los Angeles and Jackson, MI.
  • This position will also support the operations of those retail locations that replenish other retail locations or fulfill commercial customer orders in their local markets. These retail operations report to the retail regional manager, but the VP operations will be seen as the subject matter expert in warehouse operations and will serve as a support when needed to help the warehouse operations in these retail locations run efficiently.
  • Maintains compliance with all regulatory requirements and ethical standards related to warehouse operations
  • Oversight of all warehouse and distribution operations: both day-to-day and long-term planning
  • Through local teams, manages warehouse operations to maximize efficiency, timeliness, and accuracy of delivery of finished goods to customers
  • In addition to Warehouse Operations, this position will work closely with the Director or VP of logistics to ensure that the most efficient supply chain is applied to our Omni channel platform.  This includes working collaboratively to decide the optimal place for inventory to sit in our system and the best way to both fulfill customer orders and replenish our existing stores. 
  • Lead the warehouse teams through the next steps of improvement after recent implementation of Warehouse Management System in the Warehouse Direct business. 
  • Serve as the main point of cross functional contact as roll out of the WMS happens in the retail business.  Become and act as the subject matter expert in WMS for both businesses and champion continuous improvement as it relates to using systems to become more efficient.
  • Practices continuous improvement mentality seeking opportunities for operational efficiencies
  •  Manages inventory in the warehouses and establishes controls to ensure the company is operating at the highest level of performance based on key performance metrics and minimized supply chain risk
  •  Develops, manages, and maintains inventory targets within the warehouses based on sales to optimize inventory turns and customer service
  •  Works to optimize usage of the company’s systems, for purposes of efficiency, cost reduction, and inventory control Safety and Compliance
  • Establishes annual goals and objectives, in alignment with corporate objectives. Develops and manages departmental budgets accordingly
  • Hires candidates, coaches, and mentors effectively, and builds strong teams
  • Helps the COO manage cross functional companywide projects that are crucial to the future success of the company
  • Monitors all facilities for compliance with safety and all other environmental and operational standards and regulations, ensuring that a “safety first” culture is maintained in all locations.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong project management skills. Able to communicate the “big picture” while leading the team to execute the details with excellence daily
  • Collaborates easily with all levels of the organization and serves and contributes as a member of the organization’s Executive Management Team
  • 7+ Years of warehouse management and project management equivalent experience required

Education:

  • BA in business administration or equivalent experience
  • Retail supply chain management, and logistics experience
