Share Email Opening Title Entry-Level Engineer - Product Environmental Compliance (2021-181)  Astronics Subsidiary Astronics AES   Location Kirkland, WA   Description JOB SUMMARY This entry-level engineering role is a great way to start your engineering career!  Our Product Environmental Compliance Engineer supports the collection and management of Environmental Compliance data to support engineering teams and related business needs during product development through product end of life. This includes all aspects of environmental compliance and reporting including exporting component, product, part number, material content, environmental compliance data, and supporting documentation from/to various online electronic database systems into other data formats and systems. Conduct material content analysis at the homogeneous substance level. Compile data and information from multiple sources to create and maintain a complete documentation package for proof of compliance to various environmental directives such as the Reduction of Hazardous Substance (RoHS) and Registration, Evaluation, Authorization, and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH). Support process improvement initiatives and the Environmental Sustainability Team in support of environmental compliance and related customer requirements. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Continue to design and support the company strategy to ensure company compliance with product environmental standards, including the overall management of compliance data and information. Conduct material content evaluations at the homogenous substance level for AES products using a variety of research methods to meet desired environmental compliance requirements Create and maintain product-level Environmental Compliance Reports (such as REACH and RoHS) and supporting documentation to ensure compliance with applicable directives. Manage the restricted materials usage information on current company products including Conflict Minerals and support the development of material specifications Transfer and maintain compliance information from various data formats and systems into different systems and/or formats to meet internal and external reporting requirements. Develop & maintain internal compliance processes as required to ensure a well-defined compliance program Participate in company-wide Environmental Sustainability Team for product-related environmental initiatives Perform other duties as assigned. This position may require knowledge of SOX / 404 internal audit controls and related documentation.   Position Requirements MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education/Experience: Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Environmental, Chemistry, Metallurgy or technical field Experience in implementing REACH, RoHS and Conflict Minerals in complex electronic systems Experience with industry standards, regulations or environmental directives (including REACH, RoHS and Conflict Minerals) Ability to review and understand material declaration statements to understand the material content of a component or product Experience evaluating engineering drawings and BOMs and performing mathematical equations to calculate substance weight based on a combination of varying size, weight, and material substance Experience with Product Lifecycle Management Systems (such as Omnify) and product Bills of Material Knowledge in Organic Chemistry, highly desired Advanced Computer Skills: using the internet, websites, and various computer applications to research and retrieve part numbering, manufacturer, material content and environmental compliance information and transfer data to/from a variety of data formats. Microsoft Excel; creating, sorting, editing, filtering, pivot tables, copying, pasting. Managing and organizing files using Microsoft Windows Explorer Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS Must be a US Person (under ITAR rules) to be eligible.
